Bugs and Hugs Pop up Birthday Card

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen Hasheck here again and today I am sharing a birthday card I made with the brand new Bug Friends die set from Die-Versions. I love to make cards for kids and when I saw this cute set of bugs in the newest release, I knew I had to play with it. I created a top folding A2 card base and attached the Happy Birthday Corner to the top. I die cut the Momma and baby snail out of green, plaid and black scraps and paper pieced them together. I die cut “BUGS &” out with a Die-Versions alphabet die. The best part of this card is what pops up when it is opened:

Four panels of cute bugs and hugs twist and pop up to surprise and delight the recipient. There are many ways to make this twist and pop element, but I did a tutorial on the easiest way I have tried here if you would like to try one. I die cut three more bugs from the new Bug Friends set for three of the panels and added Die-Version’s “hugs” too. I think my grandson will like this “bugs and hugs” pop up card. Here is a close up of those cute bugs:

White Peacock

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Lori here today with a card that I made with two Die-Versions dies ~ the Oriental Screen die and the Peacock (which is not in stock right now).  For this 5 1/2 by 6 1/2 inch card I started with white card stock for the base of the card.  I cut out the Whispers Oriental Screen die with black paper and glued that onto the small print pink paper.  Then I cut out the Whispers Peacock die with white paper and glued that onto the screen.  Then I glued all of that onto the bigger print pink paper and then onto the card.  We have a rescue zoo nearby to where we live and they have a couple of white peacocks and they are so beautiful ~ so this card is made in honor of the Popcorn Park Zoo White Peacocks!!

Be sure to stop by the Die-Versions Blog often to see how the Design Team is creating with these wonderful dies!  Please share with us on the Die-Versions Facebook page what you create!  We love seeing everyones projects ~ sometimes we even case your ideas!!

Baby Icons

Hey everyone!  Anne here and today I'm sharing a baby card using some of the sweet new Baby Icons die set (there are a total of nine dies in this set) as well as the new Elegant Border die.

The design of this card has a little treat box on top of an A2 sized card and was shown to me by my friend Ann.  She doesn't have a blog, but she freely shares her ideas 😃.  To create the box, I used Graphic 45 papers and the We R Memory Keepers Gift Box Board.  (I used the 1.75" x 1.75" box size.)

Each of the elements were die cut from Graphic 45 papers and accented with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo).

To the left is a close up of the butterfly and the Elegant Border.  Waterscape glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle accents his wings.

The rattle was accented with Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers and I used the de-bossed side of the baby feet because I liked that pattern better.  The embossed side really shows the little popcorn toes 😁.

The binky and baby bottle was die cut twice - once from the patterned cardstock and once from some really heavy plain cardstock for extra stability.  I added a 3D pop dot to hold the binky in place on top of the box and covered the remaining exposed adhesive with more Waterscape glitter.

The extra layer of cardstock on the baby bottle gives it extra dimension on the side of the box.  Both pieces were accented with Copic markers and Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers.

Be sure to come back and visit the Die-Version blog often to see the wonderful creations of the rest of the team.

On a final note, I'm really sad to say this will be my last posting for Die-Versions.  I have been on the team since it's inception in 2012 and I have enjoyed every minute of it!  Although I will no longer be on the team, you will still see lots of DV dies on my future projects 😁.

Spring Egg

Hello crafty friends,

I started playing with my Easter theme stamps and dies last weekend.  Here's the first card I made

I wanted a big element on the front of my card, so I reached for the Spring Egg die. It's a large, very lacy and very petty die.  I die cut the Spring Egg out of thick watercolor paper and using a small ink cube gave it color.  I covered the die cut with clear wink of stella and glued it to my card front. A stamped sentiment banner, a wood butterfly covered in the same ink and some enamel dots finished my card.   Here's a close up picture of the egg... I wish you could see how glittery the egg turned out.

LOTUS BLOSSOM 3D FLOWER CARD

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a card that I made using the Lotus Blossom Die Cut to create a 3D Flower.Take a look at my card:

  MAKE A WISH STENCILED CARD

Creating this card was very fun and easy.
I simply took a piece of Anchors Aweigh 100, a Quick Quotes decorated paper, and secured it to the Heart and Flowers Stencil Girl using masking tape.
I played around with the paper and the stencil to have the flowers in the position that I wanted.

  MAKE A WISH STENCILED CARD

Then with Clarity Brushes I applied the PowderPuff Chalk Ink until I had the perfect color mix for the flowers.

MAKE A WISH STENCILED CARD

The sentiment is a combination of words included on the stamp set Super Scrip 2 from Altenew that I stamped using PowderPuff Mahogany. To obtain a darker color on this, I re-stamped several times using the MISTI tool.

To add the great and delicate touch to my card, I decorated the left corner with a 3D flower that I created using two Lotus Blossom die cuts that I cut from decorated paper. I pasted only the center of the flowers using On Point Glue and then I pasted on the corner of the card.

  MAKE A WISH STENCILED CARD

I decorated the center of the lotus with a flower that I made using White Makin's Clay that I sponged and colored with PowderPuff Buttercup.

Thank you for stopping by and see you soon with other ideas to use your die cuts.

Masculine cards with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my second February Die Versions inspiration.
As out post service is one of the " best", I didn't yet got my new release die, so those card were made with oldies. but goodies and in my personal opinion- the best of the best possible masculine Die Versions dies.
So both cards are for Father's day  and were made with the very same paper collection from UK company named Scrapberry's.
On the first card I use a few dies.
The background was made with Morocco background die.
Then I die cut the  Stitched nested stars and glued one over another.
The sentiment was made with two Nested stitched circles.

On this card the background was made with Gents background-  right now out of stock, but I really hope will be back in the shop soon.
The main embellishment are the Feathers die cuts that were heat embossed and added on the card.
And again the sentiment was stamped over the Nested stitched circles.

I hope you got some masculine inspiration and see you again soon!
Hope with the new released dies inspiration.

Night Sky

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Lori here today with a Night Sky card that I made with the newly released Whispers Moon & Cloud die.

Ingredients:

Watercolor paper
Stormy Sky distress ink
Seedless Preserves distress ink
Black soot distress ink
Weathered Wood distress ink
Picket Fence distress ink
Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist
Nuvo Silver Moon Dust Crystal Drops
Kraft card stock
White, yellow and silver paper

For this A2 card I took a piece of Watercolor paper and rubbed on the Stormy Sky, Seedless Preserves and Black Soot distress ink onto the paper with my blending tool. Then I spritzed a little bit of water onto the paper and wiped it dry.  I took the Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist and spritzed that lightly onto the paper.  I took the Nuvo Silver Moon Dust Crystal Drops and put some little dots scattered onto the paper and I let that dry.  I cut out the Cloud with white paper and inked it a little bit with Weather Wood and Picket Fence distress ink.  I cut out yellow paper with the star dies and then silver paper with the moon die and then I added them to the card.

I hope my card has inspired you to try playing with some of your distress inks that I know you have!!

HEART BALLOONS BIRTHDAY CARD

Birthday purses with metallic heart balloons sounds a little crazy but it is not crazy when it is a celebration card.

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a card that I made using a fun and beautiful stamp set called Birthday Purses from Skipping Stones combined with the new die cut Heart Balloons. I don't know if this happens to you, but sometimes I see some stamp sets and die cuts that I feel the need to have, but then I don't know how to use them, and these are one of these. Take a look at my card:

BIRTHDAY PURSES WITH METALLIC HEART BALLOONS

In my real life I am addicted to purses, shoes and die cuts, so this card is a great combination of all my passions, don't you think?
  • I created the base card with watermelon wonder card stock. The size is 4-1/4"x11" with score in 5-1/2".
  • Then I stamped the images of two of the purses included on the stamp set Birthday Purses over designer paper using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and fussy cut them with my scissors. To create a contrast over one of these, I colored the handles with a brown copic marker.
  • I took a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and I arranged the purses on the lower part of this.
  • I cut the die cut Heart Balloons from Die Versions using my new favorite metallic foil paper. It is RINEA Metallic paper and it is amazing  because the color is on both sides and the material is more solid than other metals. You can use it with punches, die cuts or electronic machines. I used the copper color and I love how the heart balloons from Die Versions turned out.
  • After cutting the heart balloons, I pasted them on top of the vanilla layer using Imagine On Point Glue.
  • Using my MISTI (HLL & SS) , I stamped two of the sentiments included on the stamp set Birthday Purses using Versafine Vintage Sephia.
  • I pasted the the purses with dimensionals and voila, my card is ready!
BIRTHDAY PURSES WITH METALLIC HEART BALLOONS

On this card I combined not only my personal passions, but also three different materials: card stock, designer or decorated paper and metal foil. Easy and fun!

I hope my project inspires you to no be afraid to mix colors and textures in one creation, just keep in mind the balance of the things.

Have a great day and celebrate Birthday purses with metallic heart balloons.

Park Bench with Metallic Tissue Background

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen Hasheck here again and today I am sharing a card I made with the brand new Bench die from Die-Versions and a beautiful background technique I learned recently. To make the background, I sprinkled blue and green Brusho Coloured Crystals on tissue paper and spritzed them with water. The tissue paper has to dry completely which takes several hours. Then I crumbled it up several times so it was very wrinkled and applied Versamark to the top of the wrinkles. I applied silver embossing powder to the Versamark and heat set it. The result is this beautiful background. I die cut Die-Version’s bench out of black cardstock and white fun foam, glued them together and then on the card for a CAS card that can be used for any purpose. Here is a close up of the pretty background:

Layout inspiration with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my first February inspiration.
As you know I am a primary scrapbooker, so here and there I add scrapbooking pages to Die Versions blog to assure you that those gorgeous dies are just perfect not for only cardmaking, but for a real classic scrapbooking.
So this is a page I made for myself, by myself and with myself (you can see it for sure).
I scrapped my vacation memories as here in Israel Lilac bushes are not common (non existing ones).
So as I was born in a former USSR and was raised around lilac flowers every time I see one abroad I just take some photos near them. Just to remember the smell and the happiness of my early childhood.
As you can see I made the background with Die Versions Fence background die. Then added the Iron Gate  die from both sided of the upper photo.
The Bird bath was die cut and added over the fence.
And those three dies made the whole page background.
All other embellishments are just small add- ons of flowers, hand cut pieces and small metal charms.
And yes, life is good  when you can travel and still remember your childhood as it was just a few days ago .
I wish. Not really a few days, but a like a whole 50 years back.
It still makes me Happy!
