Vintage Sewing Machine

Anne here and today I'd like to share a birthday card I created for my mom.  Since she's a quilter, I wanted to incorporate that theme.  While checking out the web for various sentiments that go with sewing, I came across this one:

Blessed are the children of the piecemakers...For they shall inherit the quilts!

This is such a true statement! Needless to say, I have quite a few of her wonderful quilts.

This design is so versatile and could easily be used for lots other occasions besides a birthday.   It all depends on what you add to the inside :-).

The following Die-Versions dies were used to create the card:

Magical font

I started out by die cutting the vintage sewing machine twice from black cardstock.  I heat embossed the top layer with Dark Night embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  Love this dark blue color.  It looks different depending on how it catches the light. I adhered this to the second black layer and offset it for a bit of a shadow effect.

I ran the Nesting Flowers die cut (I used the largest die from this set) through my machine using a Cuttlebug embossing folder (Script Texture).  Distress Ink (Vintage Photo) was used to accent the raised portion as well as all the edges.  I also tucked a couple pieces of tulle under this die cut.

The "You're" and "Special" were die cut using the A Little Lime font and the SEW was die cut from the Magical font.  I added a lot of bling to the letters using a Spectrum Noir Sparkle marker (Starry Night).

To finish the birthday card, I left the right side of the card base longer so I could add a string of buttons.

On the inside of the card a retired DV die - Happy Birthday Present - was used and accented with more Sparkle markers.

Be sure to come back often and check out what the rest of the team has created for you.
