NESTING STITCHED CIRCLES

Hello everyone! Martha Lucia here to share with you a Clean and Simple card that I love to make. This is my favorite style of cards and summer inspired me with vibrant colors. Take a look at my card:

Creating this card was very simple because I used the Nesting Stitched Circles, one of sets of die cuts that I used with more frequency!

1. Cut the base of the card using Whisper White card stock. The size is 4-1/4"x11" with score in 5-1/2"
2. Take another piece of Whisper White card stock and cut from this three double nesting stitched circles. When I said double I meat that you cut two circles at the time to create only the border using two continuous sizes.
3. Cut in different colors of card stock the three die cuts that you use to cut inside to create the white frames.
4. Paste the color circles over the card base and paste the white frames around the color circles.
5. Stamp your sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used one stamp from the stamp set Forever Friend from Peek-a-Boo Designs.
6. Finalize your decoration adding some orange sequins.

You can see all of the dies from Die-Version HERE. And we'd love to see your projects using Die-Versions dies on our Facebook page HERE. If you use the code martha15 you'll receive 15% off your regular price Die-Versions order.

Cozy Fireplace

Anne here with a Christmas card to share with you.  I used the following dies from Die-VersionsCozy Fireplace and Deck the Halls Sweet Wordlet.

To start out, the fireplace was die cut from white cardstock and then colored with Copic markers.  Lator Gator velvet glitter was added to the wreath above the mantel and Sparkling Snow glitter helps make the fire look more realistic.

I combined a couple different embossing powders to achieve the fun effect that's on the Sweet Wordlet die cut.  I started out by heat setting Rhapsody embossing powder first.  Then I randomly sprinkled some Silver Dust embossing powder on top of that (I didn't add a second coat of embossing ink) and heat set from the bottom.  That way the powder doesn't blow all over the place.

As a finishing touch, I added some very curly ribbon using the Tiny Attacher stapler.  I also accented the corners with the tiny staples as well.

Be sure to come back and visit the Die-Versions blog often to see what the rest of the team has created to inspire you.  And remember, use the code anne15 if you'd like to get a 15% discount on your total Die-Versions purchases.  This discount is good on all everyday priced dies.  Have fun shopping.

Beach Life

Happy Monday!! Lisa here to share a couple of beach-themed cards with you today using several Die-Versions dies!!

With summer in full swing, I created a couple of cards to celebrate fun times at the beach. For this card, I used a Whispers Tiki Hut die. It was popped up with foam tape for dimension. A Whispers Stitched Nesting Squares die was used for the background.

For this card, I used the Whispers Beach House die, and I popped it up with foam tape as well. Beach was cut from a Cute Cube Life is Better at the Beach die, which is no longer available.

The tag is a Shapes Ocean Tag, which is still available in the Farewell Sale, but you better hurry before it's gone!

Pond Scene

Hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by.   Kara here from Create By Kara to showcase the Spring Pond die.

I simply took Strathmore Bristol Watercolor (smooth surface) paper and cut my die with the Vagabond 2.    I then used Zig Clean Brush Markers and a Water Brush to apply the color.  This is a super simple card, but I have a family member who loves the outdoors and flowers so she will LOVE it!

For the background, I took another piece of watercolor paper and with blues made a water and sky look.  I traced around the die cut with a pencil so that I just placed the blue where I needed to.  After assembling the card, I opted for an orange background so it would make the dragonfly pop a bit.

Aloha!!

Lori here today and I want to share with you a card that I made with an older Die-Versions die called Whispers Tiki Boards and the newer Font called Curly Fries.  I love the Tiki Boards die and the Curly Fries Font and I think they go together perfectly!!

For this 5 X 7 inch card I started with orange card stock for the base of the card.  I then took some brown wood grain paper, inked the edges with brown ink and added that to the card.  Next I cut out the Whispers Tiki Boards die in several different colors of paper and inlaid all the pieces to get the look that I wanted.  I added all of that to some kraft card stock and distressed the edges and then inked the edges with brown ink and added that to the card.  Then I took my Curly Fries Font and cut it out with orange paper and spelled out Aloha on some more kraft card stock.  I distressed the edges and inked it with brown ink and added it to the card.  Now don't you feel like you are in Hawaii?  I always think of Hawaii or some other Island when I use the Whispers Tiki Boards die.

Iron Cross Sympathy Card

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen here again and today I am sharing a sympathy card featuring Die-Version’s beautiful Iron Cross die found here on the Die-Version’s website. I die cut the Iron Cross out of a thick white cardstock which also embossed the diamond shape of the die. I applied Fossilized Amber Distress Ink to the cross lightly with my Clarity Stencil Brush and placed it back in the die cut cross negative space in the card front. I also used the same ink and Clarity Stencil Brush to add some soft color to the diagonal corners of the card front. I die cut and attached Die-Version’s “With Sympathy” from their “With Deepest Sympathy” Wordlets Die. I like how the words are separate so I can choose which words to use or not use.

Remember you can get a 15% discount on any of Die-Version’s great dies by simply using my discount code karen15 when you check out at the Die-Versions website (unless the dies are already on sale.)

For babies

Hi,
Alicja here again. Today I have two baby cards to share with you.
I really don't like to waste things. Sometimes, when I clean up my desk I like to make something new with things I found. This time was: pieces of papers, punchers, die cuts, flowers, ribbon pieces, gems and others.
That is how I did my last cards: gather all rubbish from desk, add beautiful Die-Versions die cuts and... make something special ;-)
First card is for a boy with horse:

And second one with bib for a girl:

Whispers - Rocking HorseWhispers - Bib
And what about you? Do you use rubbish from your desk like me?

Together: Mini Album with Die Versions

Together Mini Album Tutorial

This is a tutorial that was mostly made to show you the easy way to bind small cardstock pages to a self arranged mini  4 1/2*6 1/2'' mini album.  So the instructions were mostly made to show  you how to arrange the binding system with a couple of add- ons on other techniques. I didn't make the full step bu step tutorial for the over  page arrangements as this was actually an issue for another tutorial.
So here we go!
1. Cut three thin chipboard  pieces to two pieces of 4 1/2*6 1/2'' and  cut the third piece to 1  1/4*6 1/2'' size.
Cut the patterned paper to the size shown  to cover  three cardstock pieces. Make the small gap between the chipboard  pieces to allow the paper folding without tearing it. Cut the corners as shown.

2. Glue the outer cover and add an inner patterned paper cover and glue it as shown.

3. Cut another strip of chipboard to 1 1/4*6 1/2'' size and cover it around in the same way as was shown in step 1.

4. Roll natural twine around the covered piece from the previous step as shown. I made 6 strings for my mini album, but you can add one or two more. Each string will give us 4 album pages later (one folded cardstock and both sides.)So those six strings make 24 mini pages for the album.
Tie the knot and secure with 3d foam tape as shown.

5. Glue the binding  system to the inside  of your album. To add a page you just make 9*6 1/2'' piece of double sided cardstock, fold it into a half and insert under one line of twine. With 6 folded pieces added we will have 12  double sided small pages.

6. From this step on I just made a couple of shots to show the major techniques used. The first one was making the outer cover matting and for this technique I used the Bo Bunny collection package (yes, I love to recycle), Rebecca Baer stencil, DecoArt Crackle paste and a lot of waiting time to let this matting dry. Actually after the trimming and embellishing the cover a very little piece of it is seen.

7. Those are the major (almost everything I used ) embellishments that I die cut for the album.
I used Die Versions dies as they fit this vintage spirit of this album a lot. The black Die Versions shapes used are Bird Bath, Birdhouse Branch and Victorian Kids.
The black shapes were die cut twice. The  back was die cut from white thin chipboard and the front from black cardstock. When glued one over another I tried to keep a very thin outline of white to be seen to add the dimension. Later each and every  one of black pieces was covered with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder for the shiny look you can see on the cover.
The lockets and a key pieces were die cut from white cardstock and  later heat embossed with copper powder and some blue paint was added for the patina effect too. I used the following Die Versions dies here:

8. And now for the finished album.
This is a cover with stencilled matting, huge chipboard that was heat embossed into this copper vintage look. Black die cuts made the  scene of a couple in the nature (the album name is Together as you can see).

And now a few inner page where Die Versions dies were added:

I hope you like my small tutorial and my mini album and my use of not so new, but the best ever Die Versions dies!

I hope that you like both of my cards and see you again soon with more Die Versions inspiration.
I hope I have inspired you to create something fun today!  Please be sure to check back to the DV Blog often for more great ideas on how to use your dies!  And please share with us what you make on the DV Facebook Page.

Howdy!!!

Howdy Summer!!  Lori here today and I have to tell you that with the high humidity we have been having lately in New Jersey I feel like I am at the desert!!  So I just had to make this card!  LOL!  For this 5 x 7 inch card I went with a lot of layers and a lot of distressing but I got the look that I wanted.  For this card I cut out the Whispers Southwestern Desert die (which is out of stock right now, but check back soon to see if it is back in stock) and I cut it out in 5 different colors of paper scraps and pieced it all together and placed it on some gray paper and added the blue marble paper for the sky.  Then I distressed the edges and cut out the word Howdy using the Curly Fries Font and added that to the sky.  I then mounted that piece onto a colored piece of vellum paper and cut the edges with my torn edge scissors and then I mounted that on some terra cotta color paper and distressed the edges and then I took a piece of ivory paper and rubbed distress ink all over that and that mounted the rest of the card on top.  So how do you like all the layers?  I really like the distressed look!

Winter Fun

Anne here and I decided to do something a little different for my Die-Versions project. This falls under the "anything but a card" category and I can think of lots of ways to display this.

I started out by die cutting the Oriental Screen from an adhesive sheet, covering it with red glitter, and then adhering this to a piece of black cardstock.  Next, I cut this into four squares, rearranging them until I was happy with the new design.

White cardstock was used to die cut the Skate Around die and various embossing powders were used to color this image (Rhapsody for the bow, Silver Dust for the skate blades, and Pearl for the skates.)   I wanted the skates to look old, so I embossed these twice.  The second time around, I purposefully missed some of the areas with embossing ink so that when the embossing powder was reapplied and heat set, it looks like these areas are worn down.

The Winter Fun sentiment is an Express Edge and was also heat set using both the Rhapsody and Silver Dust embossing powders for a multi-toned look.  If you like this die, you might want to go ahead and get it as it is about to be retired.

Would you like to get 15% off your total purchase from Die-Versions?  It's easy: just type in the code anne15 in the coupon code box in your shopping cart and receive 15% off the everyday Die-Versions prices.  Easy peasy :-).

Happy Birhday

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Lisa here and I have a couple of birthday cards to share with you featuring several Die-Versions dies.

The doily at the top of the card is a Whispers Ring of Hearts die...one of my all-time favorites. I used Whispers Stitched Nesting Squares dies to cut the hole and to create the frame to surround the opening.

A Whispers Fence Background was used in the opening. The sentiment is a Whispers Sweet Wordlet Celebrate die.

A Whispers Happy Sweet Wordlet and Whispers Birthday Sweet Wordlet were used on the bottom of the card.

You can see all of the dies from the Newest Release HERE. And we'd love to see your projects using Die-Versions dies on our Facebook page HERE. If you use the code lisa15 you'll receive 15% off your regular price Die-Versions order.

Thanks so much for stopping by and come back tomorrow for more inspiration from the design team!! Have a great day :)

Roses

Hello crafty friends,

I have two cards showcasing the beautiful Rose Whispers die for you today... hope you like them :)

For this BIRTHDAY card, I did a partial die cut of the Rose die.  I took my card front (a precut piece of watercolor pink pattern paper) and placed the Rose die in the position I wanted.  I placed my top cutting plate at a point that would only cut the top portion of the die.  The parts of the die not cover by the cutting plate will not cut.

For this LOVE card, I die cut the complete rose and colored it.  I glued it back into place and backed the whole card front with a piece of clear plastic, which I first dry embossed with the same tiny dot folder.

Having used clear plastic on the inside of my card, I was left with an inside panel full of adhesive showing and we can't have that.  So I die cut a second rose and flipping it over to get the mirror image, I glued it over the back of the front rose over the plastic.  I added pattern paper to the rest of the panel.
Now, I'll be honest and say, that I'm not happy w/how the inside turned out.  This was my test card and I didn't do that great of a job coloring the inside rose.  Also the pp I picked isn't to my liking now.  I do I love how fun clear plastic adds a fun new element to my card and will definitely my doing this again.
