Ginger Jar to you

Hello everyone, Martha Lucia here with a Ginger Jar for you. I am falling in love with these oriental die cuts and this is another. To make this card I used Crumb Cake card stock for the base and I embossed the base to create an special frame for my decorated piece.

Before cutting the die cut I took a piece of watercolor paper and using a stencil and versamark ink, I inked the free spaces directly with the pad. Then I covered it with white embossing powder and melted with the heat tool. To give colors I applied distress ink with the aquapinter and when the paper was totally dry I cut my  Ginger Jar.

I pasted the die cut over over a Basic Black piece of card stock and I stamped a Thinking of You sentiment from Heartsong 2 Stamp Set by Skipping Stones Designs using Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder. Then I layered the entire piece over a Real Red card stock to give another oriental touch.

Celebrate your Birthday in Oriental style

Hello  my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here again with my new Oriental style card and this time it's a Birthday card full of bright colors and gold using Die Versions Oriental dies collection.
I used light blue card as my base and added a real Japanese paper over it. As this paper has gold  I decided to stay with gold and made the die cut of Whispers - Ginger Jar  die in gold. I kept the negative and used it under the die cut over the card.
The vase was layered over double sided glue sheet and covered with perfect blue glitter.
I added a few  pieces of gold washi tapes and some SRM stickers as stitches and sentiments.  The paper has a bit of red over it. So I added a couple of red rhinestones  and red stitches to make this the complimentary color for my card.

So with just one die  this card is a shiny and full of color and just perfect for both genders.

Nesting Flowers Shaker

Anne here and my card today showcases both the new Nesting Flowers die set and the new Heart Border die, plus a few of the DV Sweet Wordlets.  One of the things I do when I receive any new die is to die cut it from scrap cardstock.  Then I go from there.  Today's card idea all started with the negative pieces (the tiny hearts) from the Heart Border die.

I also recently received a couple new colors of Nuance pigment powder (Hot Pink and Red) and I wanted to create a sample for future reference.  I had left overs and decided to die cut the Heart border from a piece of this to see what it looks like actually cut.  I was pushing the negative pieces together in a pile and immediately thought how fun these would be in a shaker card. That's how it all started.

The Nesting Flowers die set makes a fantastic shaker.  I created more of the watercolored cardstock with the Nuance powders so that I could cut out the shaker piece as well as the "flower" next to it.  A quick trick to making sure all the curves are secure and that none of your shaker pieces will escape is to die cut the same shape from fun foam and adhere that to the cardstock.  The clear acetate is actually from some packaging material that I had saved.  (If it isn't too scratched, then I cut it down and save it for projects like this.)

Before adhering the acetate top to the base, I die cut the Sweet Wordlet "Love" from the watercolored cardstock and adhered that to the base.  The hearts move, but the word does not.

The second "flower" idea came about from seeing a Spirelli tutorial and thinking that the nesting flower die could be used for a variation of this.  More of the negative hearts were also adhered to this piece.

Instead of creating a Valentine's type of card with these dies, I thought they would also be perfect for a couple just getting married.  The "Congratulations" and "Mr. & Mrs." are more DV Sweet Wordlets.  Although the camera didn't capture it, the black cardstock was spritzed with a homemade spritzer (Marion Smith Designs Whisper pigment powder and water) for added shimmer.

More Feathers

Hello Crafty Friends,

I have two cards using the Whispers Feather die for you today.

My first card was inspired by the combination of the pattern paper and the die, birds and feathers are a perfect fit.  This was a super fast and easy card to create.  I die cut three Whisper Feathers and arranged them on my card front.  I added my sentiment, which I picked up with this die in mind.

My second card took a little longer and was a little more involved, so I took some photos to share with you.
step1... I position my die in the position I wanted on my card and die cut my feather opening from just the pattern paper.

step2... I die cut the Whisper Southwestern Desert in black and positioned it in back of my pattern paper so that the die cut feather opening would reveal my sense.

step3... I backed the feather opening with pattern paper.  I picked a water colored pattern that reminded me of the desert.
step4... I added kids foam to the back of my element and score tape.

Once the base of my card was done, I added two more feathers, repeating the my colors.  I could have stop here, but I felt the card wasn't finished, so I added dies of the Whisper Southwestern Skull and the Express Edges Spanish Hola.

Thanks for stopping bye, leave me some feedback or links to your projects using some of our great dies.

Feathers and Fran-tage

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen here again and today I am sharing a card featuring Die-Version’s beautiful new Feather die cut. This die is part of a brand new release you can find here on the Die-Versions website.. I love feather dies and will be sharing several more cards I have designed with this die! On this card I decided to use the negative space after cutting the die to frame a picture of Die Version’s Beach House. I die cut the Beach House out of black cardstock and attached it to a light blue card base. I die cut the Feather die from the center of a cream colored card front. I sprinkled several colors of blue embossing powder around the edge of this piece and melted them from under the piece using an electric griddle. This technique is called Fran-tage and results in an unique frame for the card front.

Remember you can get a 15% discount on any of Die-Version’s great dies by simply using my discount code karen15 when you check out at the Die-Versions website unless the dies are already on sale.

Geisha: You Are Amazing

Hello everyone, Martha Lucia here with another oriental style card. This release is one of my favorites because I love this culture and all the details that these die cuts bring to our creations. Today I made one blossom card using Geisha.

The base of my card is Real Red card stock and I have a second layer in Dark Brown Metallic card stock. The third layer is Whisper White and I stamped over this an image from the stamp set called Easter Blossoms. I inked the image using markers to have all these details and can combine the colors.

My second image is from the stamp set You and Me Sentiments form Joy Clair that I stamped using Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder. With this two elements I combined my die cut Geisha. I cut it using the same Real Red card stock that I used for the base and Stick It adhesive sheets to have a perfect look in my creations.

Easter Cross

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Happy Tuesday!  I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day and the day off for Presidents Day. Today and I have two Easter cards that I made using the newly released Whispers Cross Background die.

For both of these two A2 cards I cut out the Whispers Cross Background die with yellow and purple paper and then mounted the Cross Background onto the opposite color.  I tied some bakers twine around the fold and I stamped the sentiment on white paper and then inked the edges with Squeezed Lemonade distress ink and placed them on the card.  These cards were very quick to make with the background being all one piece and then you just layer on a different color paper.  I think they are perfect for Easter cards!

Bon Voyage card: Oriental style

Hello my dear crafty friends!

Irit is here with my first post using the new Oriental dies Die Versions collection.
I love everything oriental. So when I got a few of those dies I knew what I am going to do with them: Oriental Bon Voyage cards.
This is a first card made with  Whispers- Pagoda die.
I used Paper House Far East paper pad to make all paper layers. The background was stamped  with Rubber Dance Oriental script  over the paper- some in white and some in gold to fit the golden background cardstock.
I made one background die cut using DV oldie, but beloved Whispers- Oval Background die over the yellow patterned cardstock and added it between the paper layers.
The Pagoda was also die cut from patterned paper and layered over the double sided glue sheet that was covered with yellow glitter.

As my finish touches I stamped the Tim Holtz sentiment in gold  heat embossing  and added some pearls and one lovely oriental metal charm.

Oriental Lantern

Anne here with today's blog post.  Instead of creating a card for today's post, I decided to create a book mark.  I know more and more people are using electronic devices to read now, me included, but I still prefer to read an old fashioned book.

To create my book mark, I started out with one of the new Asian themed dies: Oriental Lantern.  I die cut this twice - once from white cardstock and once from red fun foam (so I could add dimension).

To color the lantern, I used my new Spectrum Noir Sparkle glitter markers.  The amount of sparkle and shine these markers have are amazing (much better than my other glitter markers).  I also used a Gold Leafing pen on the sections colored in gold.

The patterned paper is from Graphic 45 (Birdsong) and the sentiment is one I found online by googling Chinese proverbs.

When trying to figure out my design, I knew I wanted something a little more that just a basic rectangle.  So I added a flip element to it.  That way, the book mark can be used as you normally would, or you could flip part it over the page you are reading.

Be sure to check back often to see what the rest of the Design Team is creating using these new Asian themed dies.  And don't forget to use the code anne15 to get 15% off the everyday sales prices on your total Die-Versions order.
