Coffin Break

Hello Die-Versions Fans!!

Happy Halloween to you!  I am here to share with you a Spooky beware!!

Here is the front of my card:

And here is the inside of my card:

Wood grain embossing folder
Black ink
Various papers from my stash

For this coffin shaped card I asked my husband to help make the shape!  I really love the way it turned out!  After taking an A2 white card and cutting it down to look like a coffin I took some brown Core'dinations paper and ran it through my Vagabond with the wood grain embossing folder, I sanded it down a bit, inked it up with some black ink and attached it to the card front.  Then I cut out the RIP letters with the Die-Versions "Dem Bones" Font, I love this font for Halloween cards!  I attached the RIP letters to the front of the card.  On the inside of the card on the left side I stamped the sentiment and the spiders and skulls from the Joy Clair Spooky Greetings stamp set with black ink.  On the right side I covered the back with some Halloween scrap paper and then I took some white paper and cut out the Die-Versions Whispers Skeleton die and inked it a bit with black in and then added it to the card!  I love the way this card turned out!  Now I just have to figure out who to send it to!!

Just Hanging Around

Hello crafty friends,

Today's post is not a card, it's a... I don't even know what to call it.

I started by watercoloring a mix media sheet of paper with Distress Inks.  I let it dry overnight and after work the next day, I draw a tree.  I wanted it spooky and with lots of branches for my skeletons.  I used Distress Inks for the tree also.  Let it sit until the next evening again when I darken the whole thing with black and purple Distress Inks.  I didn't use water this time, just a lot of hand rubbing the ink on the whole thing.

I die cut a few Whispers Skeletons from gray card stock and hang them on the branches.  Don't they look cool? Next I stamped spider webs in certain areas in both black and white ink.  I even added some black enamel accents in the centers of the webs for dimension.  A stamped jack-o-lantern in the bottom corner finished my art piece.

I love how it came out... I haven't done any new art journal pages and this project reminded me how much fun it is to work on bigger scale projects.

Thanks for stopping bye today, leave me some feedback or links to your projects using some of our great dies.  Don't forget to use the code mary15 for 15% off your order (not valid with sales or discounts) when shopping at Die-Versions.

Starry Nativity Ornament Christmas Card

Hello everyone, Martha Lucia here to share with you a Clean and Simple Christmas Card that I made using the Starry Nativity Ornament Die Cut from Die-Versions. This is one of my favorite die cuts for this season and today I am sharing how I used it on metallic card stock with you. Take a look at my card:

  • The base of my card is Very Vanilla card stock. The size is 4-1/2"x11" with score in 5-1/2" and I added a tiny border on the front using dark brown metallic card stock.
  • I cut the Starry Nativity Ornament Die Cut from Die-Versions using Dark Brown Metallic card stock and I pasted it over the card base and sponged around the upper part of the die cut with sky blue classic ink.
  • Then I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set Kelly's Happiest Season of All from Hero Arts using Copper Delicata Metallic Ink.

The Starry Nativity Ornament die cut has a gorgeous size to create ornaments, tags or simply use it to embellish a card. The size is 3"x5" and the best part is that you can use the negative part to create another project.

For Christmas season Die-Versions has an amazing collection and you can find all these die cuts HERE. And we'd love to see your projects using Die-Versions dies on our Facebook page HERE

Birthday Rose

Anne here with some inspiration for you today.  Today's card is so sparkly and full of glitter, that you might have to wear shades (especially if you're outside!).  This birthday card features three Die-Versions dies: Rose Whispers die (currently out of stock), "Happy" Sweet Wordlet, and "Birthday" Sweet Wordlet.  I love using Sweet Wordlets on my card fronts as they are the perfect size - not too big and not too small.  You can check out all of them here.

To create this card, I started out by die cutting the rose and my sentiment words from white cardstock and then colored all three pieces with Copic markers.  I also highlighted the leaves on the rose with Viva Inka Gold (Green Yellow).

A basic shape die was used to die cut some Sticker Paper for the background of the rose.  I adhered the flower and my sentiment first, and then added some Rose Gold glitter by Sparkle N Sprinkle to the inside portion of the die cut for my petals.   The rest of the sticker paper was covered with Crystal glitter by PK Glitz.

I dry embossed the card front with a Tonic Studios embossing folder (Layered Leaves) and then rubbed more Viva Inka Gold on the raised surface and around the edges.

To finish the card, I added a strip of 1/2" Tear-ific Tape (double sided tape) to the top, covered it with more Rose Gold glitter and then tied a strip of ribbon on top.  The inside was left blank for a personal message.

Here is my card:

Verve Stamps Believe stamp set (no longer available)

For this A2 card I started with white card stock for the base of the card.  I took a piece of pink gingham paper, inked the edges with Picked Raspberry distress ink and then attached it to the card base.  I cut out the Whispers Believe die in dark pink paper and then I cut out the Whispers Fight It die in light pink paper.  I placed the Whispers Believe die over the Whispers Fight It die, inked the edges with Picked Raspberry distress ink and added that to the card.  Lastly I took the sentiment from the Verve Stamps Believe stamp set and inked it with Picked Raspberry distress ink and stamped it onto the card.

Celebrating with Jumping Dolphins

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen here again and today I am sharing a pretty card I created with a new favorite Die-Versions die and glitter. I die cut Die-Version’s Jumping Dolphins out of a piece of thick cardstock with a sheet of two sided tape paper on it. I removed the top of the tape from the flowers and dumped on ultra-fine purple glitter. I removed the top of the tape on the dolphins and added ultra-fine black glitter to them. Then I completed the glittery picture with ultra-fine green glitter. I die cut the Celebrate Edge Die and attached the Jumping Dolphins before adding the front piece to a teal blue card.

Remember you can get a 15% discount on any of Die-Version’s great dies by simply using my discount code karen15 when you check out at the Die-Versions website (unless the dies are already on sale.)

Thanks for visiting the Die-Versions blog. I hope our projects inspire you to try some of the many great Die-Versions dies available at the website!

Steampunk tag with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new Die Versions inspiration.
Today I am going to share my new Steampunk tag and even one extra tag made with one of the dies.
So this tag was made with two layers and two tags. The background is done with black cardstock and the front is made with Scrapberry's patterned cardstock.
Then I die cut DV Bricks background from patterned cardstock and added 2/3 of it over the back tag and 1/3 over the front tag. I then die cut all shapes with DV Gears set and painted them with black acrylic with the add on of some dark red to make it look a bit rusty.
All gears were arranged over the tag and I added some more steampunk embellishments.

And here are some close ups to this tag:

And as there were paper leftovers on my craft table and the Bricks background die was still in my sight, I made another similar tag using the brick die cut again in the very same way.No gears this time, but they are still a " couple".

And here are both of my tag together:

I hope that I inspired you a bit to step out of your comfort cardmaking zone and to move to some Steampunk Mixed Media project using the gorgeous Die Versions dies.

Dies used for this projects:

Maple Line Leaf Card

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a card that I made using one of the new stamps from So Suzy Stamps, which is perfect for the fall or Christmas season, combining with one of my favorites Die Cuts from DieVersions. I used the hidden cutting technique using the Nesting Stitched Circles Collection from DieVersions Take a look at my card:

Create this card is more easy that you can imagine:
  1. Cut the base of the card. The size is 4-1/4"x11" with score in 5-1/2". I used a neutral color, Sahara Sand.
  2. Cut a second layer using Very Vanilla card stock. The size is 4-1/4"x4-1/2".
  3. Cut a border of designer paper. The size is 3/4"x4-1/4"
  4. Cut a tiny border of coordinating color. The size is 1/4"x4-1/4".
  5. Stamp the Maple Line Leaf using Kaleidacolor Ink. I used the Tomato Vine.
  6. Place the die cuts that you want to use over the stamped images. I am using the Nesting Stitched Circles from DieVersions. Paste the stamped layer through the Big Shot.
  7. Stamp your sentiment over the layer. I used the stamp Gift for You, with Memento Tuxedo Morocco Ink.
  8. Paste the stamped layer over the card base.
  9. Paste the circles that you die cut on the step 6 in place using dimensionals.

To finalize the decoration add the tiny border and some bronze sequins and, voila! The Maple Line Leaf card with the hidden cutting technique is finished! If you want to see these die cuts and all the designs that DieVersions has to offer, click HERE.

Spooky Fence

Anne here and today I have a quick and fun Halloween card featuring the Spooky Fence die from Die-Versions, which can easily be reproduced multiple times.

After die cutting the image from textured cream cardstock, I used my Copic markers to color in most of the areas.  I left some of the tree bark uncolored to give it an old, weathered look.

The background is a basic circle shape that was colored using Pan Pastels, including a touch of Black Course Pearl medium, which gives it a bit of sparkle.  The sentiment is a rubber stamp that I added googly eyes to.  The card base was embossed using a Crafters Companion embossing folder (Wood Grain).
