Southwestern Bear

Anne here and today's post uses the Southwestern Bear die, one of the new southwestern themed dies from Die-Versions.  I used traditional colors and design.  Luckily I had an old (and I mean at least 15 years old) stencil that had southwestern designs on it.  I gave one of the patterns a more modern twist by using embossing paste in the design.  While the embossing paste was still wet, I sprinkled Nuance dye based powders all over and then let it air dry.  Once it was dry, I spritzed the entire are with Dylusions Ink Spray (Pure Sunshine).  The great thing about embossing paste is that it acts as a resist, so the ink wiped off with no problem at all.

For the Bear, I also used Nuance powders, but on glossy paper.  I also added back in the negative pieces to the main die cut.  I used that same stencil to cut out patterns for the various layers.

Even though I created a card, I could see this as a wall hanging or create a series of these in various colors and framed individually and placed in a grouping.

Celebrate the New Year Southwestern Style and a Huge Sale!

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen here and today I am sharing a card featuring several dies from the November 2015 Southwestern inspired release available here on the website. I die cut the Southwestern Bison, Southwestern Cactus and Western Vases out of various patterned pieces and also out of the front of a business sized card. I slipped the die cut pieces back into their respective holes and attached the piece to a dark brown business sized card base. I added the sentiment “Thinking of You” also cut with a Die-Versions die to complete the card.

Altered tin Mixed Media art

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new tutorial  made with some new Holidays Die Versions releases. I wanted to show you that those DV dies are just perfect for altered art or Mixed Media art too.
This time I altered the round metal tin and I wanted to check the paints and mediums over the bare tin. No primer, no basic layer, just  the bare metal.
So here we go!

Step by step tutorial:
1. Paint the metal tin box cover with one single layer of Chalk It Up Blue Dinner Mint paint and let it dry.

2.Take two  Clearsnap Art screens by Ann Butler- the Stars and the Waves and arrange them on the top and the bottom of the tin as shown. Use ESF Gel Medium as your texture paste  over the stencils.

3. Add bright blue glitter over the top stars while it's wet and clear glitter on the bottom. Now let it dry!

4. Paint with Chalk It Up Avocado  Pie, Lemon  Bar and Rock Candy in the middle, making a kind of a scene. Die cut the Die Versions  O' CHRISTMAS TREE with a die, glue it over the tin with Gel Medium and paint over the die cut tree with the same green and yellow paints.

5. Die cut the DV  Whispers- Reindeer Sleigh, paint it with Huckleberry Cobler (not shown on the photo) and glue it over the tin with  gel medium.

6. Add a few splashes of Ann Butler's Pearl Iridescents paint  to imitate the snow  on the die cut tree and under the sleigh. Add fabric sentiment (PHP)  and your winter tin cover is done. Cover the whole finished cover with a thin layer of Gel Glaze.

I hope I have inspired you to create something fun today!  Please be sure to check back to the DV Blog often for more great ideas on how to use your dies!  And please share with us what you make on the DV Facebook Page.

Feliz Noche Buena

Hello crafty friends,

Today is Dec 24th, Noche Buena, which is a very important and festive day for Cubans...  so have a Feliz Navidad card for you.

I used a white chunky glitter paper as my card's background, a smaller piece of blue pattern paper with a snowy sky look.  I wanted to create the feeling that the Whispers Whimsical Town Scene die where a set of bird houses hanging on a frosty tree.   I die cut the Whispers Whimsical Town Scene from the white glitter paper (less chunky than my card background) and die cut Santa's sleigh from black glitter paper to give the illusion that he was a shadow passing in front of the moon.  Lastly, I added my Feliz Navidad sentiment on a hand cut banner.

Feliz Noche Buena everyone!  Thanks for stopping bye, leave me some feedback or links to your projects using some of these die.

'Tis the Season with Delicate Snowflake

Hello Die-Versions' fans!

Emmy here with a new project to share. Can you believe that there is less than a week until Christmas? Where did the time go...

So, being in a Christmas mood, I'm still creating Christmas cards, combining pattern papers, cardstock and of course different dies!

To create this card I used Kaisercraft pattern papers, white and silver cardstock and Die-Versions dies.

I used Die-Versions Whispers Delicate Snowflake die to create the "frame" around my Christmas picture. I divided the snowflake in four parts and adhered it under the image with mounting foam tape.

For my sentiment I used red cardstock and Sweet Wordlets " 'Tis the Season" die.

I hope you enjoyed today's project!

Come back tomorrow for more creative inspiration from our design team!

It's a Cowboy Christmas

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Today I am here to share with you a Cowboy Christmas card using the new Whispers Southwestern Skull die!

For this A2 card I started with kraft card stock for the base of the card.  Next I added a piece of barn wood paper after inking the edges with black ink.  Next I cut out the Whispers Southwestern Skull die 3 times, once in off white, once in cranberry and once in forest green paper and then I layered them slightly off center.  I attached that to the chevron paper and then I distressed the edges and then  attached that to some burlap using some brads and then I attached it to the card.  Next I cut out the  Sweet Wordlets Deck the Halls die in the same three colors as the skull and layered them and then added that to the card.  I added a red gingham bow to one of his horns and then I took some twine and wrapped it around the card a few times.  Now don't you want to just go ride a horse right now??  I know I sure would!

First Snow in Blue

Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a winter card. I live in Florida so for me the snow during the winter is not part of the scenery. I only see the snow when I have the opportunity to travel up north.

Today's card is a mix of these feelings, I created a blue watercolor background using Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink and aquapainter. Then I cut a Whisper White piece of paper and decorated the top with some dark blue sequins. I pasted these pieces over the card base using double foam tape.

Then I cut the First Snow Sweet Spots in watercolor paper and painted the letters with the same color of distress ink. I pasted with dimensionals over the right corner to keep the balance of the card

I really like the selection of Sweet Spots that are available in DieVersions Store because with these you can create different looks in your cards, scrapbook pages or journals. They come in different languages as English, Spanish and French. You can see all the selection HERE. This is First Snow the die cut that I used for my winter card.

Happy Holidays from Die-Versions Dies!

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog and Happy Holidays! Karen here and today I am sharing the rest of my Die-Versions Christmas projects. My first picture above shows some of the tags I made with Die-Versions dies. I started with some basic tag shapes and then simply added Die-Version holiday sentiments and images, then tied with curling ribbon. The tags are so easy and fun to make with great dies. Here are a few more:

Here are pictures of two fun holiday cards I made with Die-Version dies and stencils:

In both cards I featured the Cozy Fireplace die and “Happy Holidays” from the Holiday Complements set of sentiments. I have used and used this set of holiday sentiments (see most of the tags above.) On the first card, I sponged Fossilized Amber Distress Ink through a Memory Box stars stencil after attaching the cozy fireplace. Then I added the sentiment cut in gold paper. On the second card, I attached the cozy fireplace with temporary tape and also attached the sentiment cut in white cardstock. I sponged the same distress ink through a large snowflake stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils and also through a stencil I created with acetate and smaller snowflake punches. Then I removed the cozy fireplace, sponged ink on the edges and re-attached with pop-dots to raise it.

Southwestern Season's Greetings

Happy Monday!! Lisa here to share a card with you using one of the newest dies from the November Release. If you use the code lisa15, you will get 15% off your regular price Die-Versions order.

I absolutely love the Whispers Southwestern Desert die. I thought would make a perfect southwestern-themed Christmas card. I cut the desert out first in green cardstock and then black for a shadow effect. The two larger saguaro cacti pop out from the die for an outline effect. I took the pieces that popped out, covered them in Christmas lights (liquid pearls), added foam tape for dimension and then put them back in place. Season's Greetings is from the Compliments Holiday Greetings 1 die. It was cut in red cardstock and then craft foam for dimension.

You can see all of the dies from the November Release HERE. And we'd love to see your projects using Die-Versions dies on our Facebook page HERE.

Howdy!

Howdy!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Kara here to showcase a new western die from the November release.

There are so many different options for many of these new dies.  I took out the Western Boot and just had this idea of adding a lasso to my card in some fashion.

It all came together just perfectly.  I used the Western Boot from the November release.  Once I die cut the boot I knew I wanted a solid background.  I traced the die with a pencil and fussy cut.  I then erased any lines left over.  I glued the boot die cut onto my solid white and perfecto!  Just the look I was going for.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope that this sparked some creative juices flowing.  The possibilities are endless with the November release.  Be sure to stop by the blog daily to get some great ideas from the talented group of ladies.

Make a Joyful Noise

Hello crafty friends,

I'm back again today with another super quick and easy Christmas card.

I love using non holiday theme products in holiday projects, so for this card I die cut four Whisper Retro Jukebox dies in white and the caption "Make A Joyful Noise" from the A Little Lime and the Lady Liberty fonts also in white.

I set all my die cuts aside, and on some watercolor paper I used red and green distress inks to watercolor four sections of my card front and also a heart shape.

Once my water-colored background was dry, I glued my four die cut Whisper Retro Jukeboxes.  I added my "Make A Joyful Noise"sentiment heart to the the center of my card on some dimensional foam.

The idea for this card has been floating in my mind for several days now and I'm so happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping bye, leave me some feedback or links to your projects using some of these die.

Season's Greeting

Hello crafty friends,

Today I'm showcasing the Whispers Pine Cone Arrangements die from the August 2015 release.   I decided to watercolor the die cuts (two of them) and arrange them on my wood grain card front like a swag.  I added red glitter to the bows of both my pine cones die cuts and topped the "swag" with a red glitter paper die cut Whispers Season's Greeting die from last year.  As a finishing touch I added red gemstones.

This was a super fast and easy card to make.  Thanks for stopping bye, leave me some feedback or links to your projects using some of these die.

HOWDY

Anne here with today's card.  It showcases two of the new releases from Die-Versions - the Stagecoach and the Western Horse.  I thought they would be perfect paired together for this masculine card.

To create the background,  I inked up my Rays stencil (from Tim Holtz) with Distress Inks and then added Clear embossing powder on top.  Then I spritzed Dylusions Ink Spray for the sky and added ore Distress Inks for the ground.  The beauty of embossing powder is that it acts as a resist, so I wiped off the excess ink spray from the rays.

Both the Stagecoach and Western Horse were die cut multiple times so that I could layer and/or use the negative pieces to create the final piece.  Each was also die cut from fun foam so that they would have added dimension.  The sentiment was die cut suing the DV font Saloon Door.

Be sure to check back often to see what the rest of the DV team has created for you.

Southwestern Bison Ornament

Happy Monday!! Lisa here to share a project with you using one of the newest dies from the November Release. If you use the code lisa15, you will get 15% off your regular price Die-Versions order.

Isn't this Whispers Southwestern Bison die awesome?! I cut it out in vinyl and it cut perfectly. The button is a Wee Petites Button die. To create the sparkly ornament, I poured about a tablespoon of Future floor polish into a clear ornament and rolled it around until it coated all of the inside, then discarded the extra liquid. Then I poured in glitter and rolled it around until it covered the inside surface, tapping out any extra. I let it dry before I added the topper back on.

You can see all of the dies from the November Release HERE. And we'd love to see your projects using Die-Versions dies on our Facebook page HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Be sure to come back tomorrow for more inspiration from the design team!! Have a great day :)

Nativity Ornament

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Today I want to share with you a Christmas Card that I made.  I was trying to do a white on white card, but I just had to put some other colors on it!  Maybe in the future I will make a white on white card!

For this A2 card I started with white cardstock, then I took another piece of white cardstock and ran it through my Vagabond with a music embossing folder and then I added that to the card.  Next I cut out the Whispers Nativity Ornament in white glitter paper (it doesn't really show up in the picture) and I added a piece of white vellum to the back of the ornament.  Next I cut out some green paper with the Whispers Mistletoe die twice and added that to the card.  Then I added the ornament on top of that.  I cut out the bow with red sparkle paper and the top of the ornament with gold paper and added them to the ornament.  Next I cut out the Sweet Wordlets Merry Christmas in the same red sparkle paper as the ribbon and added that to the bottom of the card.  So what do you think of my "almost" white on white card?

I hope I have inspired you to create something beautiful today!

Hello Die-Versions fans!

Can you believe that it is December already! It is almost Christmas and it is definitely time for me to start sending some Christmas Love. Here is one of the cards I prepared for this Christmas. I used a bit older Die-Versions Christmas die, but I really love the flying Santa!

I used two different Die-Versions' dies:
