Love - even if you are not familiar with 60 th

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new DV post.
Today I am going to share two of the new dies that were just released and I need to say that this time I am totally in love with them!
Maybe it's my " old" age-but all things RETRO just make my day.
And those gorgeous retro dies from this new release were just great to try some techniques too.
So here is my Love card for you !

First I made the glittered background over the thin double sided glue sheet. I use 3-4 fine glitters to get this colorful background.
The Love (Retro love ) die was die cut from the same glue sheet and covered  with red glitter and then glued over the background.

The same was done with one of the flowers from the Retro Van set. I decided to add some buttons and not to add more die cut shapes as I wanted to leave a bit of background seen.

I hope you like my new card and you love DV new dies!
I hope I have inspired you to create something fun today!  Please be sure to check back to the DV Blog often for more great ideas on how to use your dies!  And please share with us what you make on the DV Facebook Page.

Merry Christmas card in a box

Hello!  Kara here today.  I wanted to share a card in a box I created.   I love to make this style of card.  It is super simple and turns out so adorable!!  With this style of card, if you don't make them over the top stuffed full, they will fold up to A2 size and off in the mail they go.

This holiday season, it is my goal to make enough cards to take to local nursing homes.  I like to mix things up and not always do 'traditional' colors.  As I flipped through my paper stack, I came across some gorgeous colors and decided to give it a go.   I am so happy with the outcome.

As I prepared my card in a box.  I first cut out all of the die cuts I thought I'd use.  I did end up with a few extra that I did not use, but they will be perfect for another card.  Nothing ever goes to waste.

As I built my card, I had things so many different ways.  The center steppers in the card can be as filled as you'd like or as empty as you'd like.  I didn't make mine too filled this time.  I wanted the card to be some what plain and not over done.

I used the Holiday Tag from the Whispers collection and cut off the top portion of the tag.  I then traced the die to get a solid background.   I used the negative portion of the tag for my first stepper.  The snowflake and reindeer.  These may be hard to pick up in the photo, but I attached them with transparency film.  The Holiday Tag can be found here

I then cut out Merry Christmas from the sweet wordlet series and placed it on a contrasting background.

On the back of the card, I decided to place my Christmas tree there.  The Christmas tree is the Delicate Tree and can be found here .  The back can be as plain as you'd like.  It is also where I write my sentiment for the person receiving my card.  Since this will be going to a nursing home, I don't need tons a space to write a note.. Just a simple think of you and Merry Christmas.

I dabbed every part of the card with some wink of stella and it is beautiful! You can never have enough shimmer and shine, in my opinion. LOL  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you find some inspiration from my card in a box.  I'd love to hear your suggestions or if you have any questions.  Don't hesitate to leave me a comment!

Reindeer sleigh on my card

Hello crafty friends!
Alicja here to share another Christmas card with you. Today I used  Reindeer sleigh die.
Square shape cards are my favorite. I love planning all places on this type of card.
I used few pieces of papers, picture of mountains on the window and chipboards which I coloured with ink crayons.
But the most important element on this card is reindeer sleigh which I cut from glitter paper.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Merry Chirstmas

Hello crafty friends,

Today I have two cards showcasing the beautiful Whisper Madonna Ornament die from the August 2015 release.  This die is simple and elegant and I wanted to do it justice by creating simple and elegant cards.

For my 1st card, I started with a white 5" x 6.5" card.  I trimmed a piece of blue glitter paper so the card would have a 1/4" border.

Next I positioned my die onto the blue glitter paper and ran it though my Big Shot. The die cuts the ornament out, but I inserted the ornament back into it's spot. I was going to call the card finished after adding a white ribbon bow at the beginning of the ornament stem, but I felt it needed something else.

I reached for my Holiday 1 Complements die and die cut the words "Merry Christmas".  I added them to my card following the curve of the ornament.  As a finishing touch (this time), I added three white pearls :)

For my 2nd card, I wanted to give the illusion that the ornament was hanging from a tree.  I found the perfect pattern paper in my stash.  I wanted more than one ornament, so I reached for the Whispers Holiday Word Ornaments die and die cut the Peace and Noel ornaments.  I arranged the three ornaments on my card (6" x 6") and added white ribbon bows to each one. As a finishing touch I added some glitter dots for some sparkle.

I hope you have enjoyed these cards, they were fun and easy to make.  This is a great die to work with.  Thanks for stopping bye, leave me some feedback or links to your projects using some of these die.

PAZ EN LA TIERRA

Hello everyone, Martha Lucia here to wish you a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving Day. Today I want to share a colorful card that I made for Christmas using a stencil for the background and Delicate Deer - Whispers to embellish it.

The base of my card is dark grey metallic, the second and third layers are whisper white. I used distress ink in three different colors over the third layer, the seedless preserves, the peacock feathers and moved lawn from Tim Holtz. Then I created  the pattern using a Cascade Stencil from Rebecca Baer Inc and a sponge.

To give dimension to the Delicate Deer I cut it several times using the same card stock that I used for the base, dark grey metallic, but I cut it each time using a layer of Stick It adhesive sheet and card stock. I made this to enhanced the beautiful arabesque design that the deer has inside. I stamped my sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

LOVE Bug

Anne here and today we are heading back to the sixties with this Retro LOVE die, one of the newly released Retro dies that showcases the 50s, 60s, and 70s.  I had lots of ideas for this die, but decided to pair it with the ultimate hippy car - the original Love Bug.

To start out, I die cut a basic shape and then die cut the Retro LOVE die inside that to create an inlayed effect.  Although the basic shape looks quite dark, it was heat embossed with combination of bright red, white, and black chunky embossing powder called Checkers by Sparkle N Sprinkle.  Instead of melting it completely, I left it more textured.

The Retro LOVE was again from white cardstock which was colored with various Distress Inks.  Clear embossing powder was added for a shiny look.  This was then inserted into the original piece and a strip of cardstock was added to the back so the negative areas of the die would also have color.

I die cut the "O" from the die a couple more times from glossy paper colored with Nuance water based dye powders by Magenta for the peace sign and fussy cut that part out.  I also saved the flowers (negative pieces from the original cuts) and sprinkled them about.

The digi (VW Beetle) was colored with Copic markers and "Bug" was die cut twice using the DV Middle School font: once from black cardstock and once from scraps left over from the glossy paper colored with the Nuance powders.

Peace Out!

I used the Whispers Retro Disco Ball for this card. I cut it out first in black sparkle paper and then black craft foam for dimension.

The Whispers Retro Dancers adorn this card. I found the papers in my stash...possibly old DCWV? It had the retro feel I was looking for. Disco is from the Whispers Retro Disco Ball die.

Flash Back to the 70's

So are you feeling Groovy or Out of Sight??  Maybe you are ready to Get Down & Boogie??
It is time to grab your Platform Shoes and head on over to the Psychedelic Shack and Boogie!!

For this A2 card I started with kraft card stock for the base and added the 70's Peace Sign paper.  Next I used the new Whispers Retro Shoe die and I cut it out twice, once in lime green and once in hot pink.  I pieced the shoe together, added it to a piece of brown paper and then backed that with more of the lime green paper.  Next I took the love sticker and added that to the top of the card.

So what do you think?  Is this card far out?  It makes me flash back to the 70's!  When you had to stay cool!

Make a Wish Disco Card

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen here and today I am sharing a bright circle card I created featuring the Retro Dancers die from the October release. I am old enough to remember the disco craze and these dancers just make me smile. I cut a circle card with a larger Spellbinders circle.  I sprinkled my favorite colors of Brusho Coloured Crystals on watercolor paper and spritzed them to activate the colors with an iridescent gold spray from Tattered Angels. After the Brusho piece was dry, I cut out the circle card front, and also the “Make A Wish” sentiment from Die-Versions. I attached the Retro Dancers die cut in black and added a few punched stars.

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Today I want to share a fun Christmas card that I made using a bunch of Die-Versions dies!

Here is the list of dies that I used for this card:

Whispers Retro Jukebox
Whispers Delicate Tree
Whispers Winter Wonderland
Marker Micro Font
Whispers Angel Ornament
Wee Petites Super Stars

For this card I started with white card stock and I added a piece of brown patterned paper.  Next I cut out the Whispers Delicate Tree with green shimmer paper and I placed that on another shade of green paper and then fussy cut it out and added it to the card.  Next I cut out the Whisper Angel Ornament with silver glitter paper and then I cut some of the Angels out and added them to the tree.  Then I cut out the Whispers Retro Jukebox in three different colors and pieced the Jukebox together and added that to the card.  Then I took the Marker Micro Font and cut it out with yellow sparkle paper and added the sentiment and the tiny stars to the card.  Lastly I cut out the Wee Petites Super Stars in the same yellow sparkle paper and then I added the 8 point star to the top of the tree.  So what do you think?  Can't you just hear Brenda Lee singing that classic song "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"??

Celebrate with the Sweet Petites Birthday Border

Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a Birthday Celebration Card using the gorgeous Sweet Petites Birthday Border.

This is a very special border because you can create a monochromatic look or a collage of colors like I made with this die cut. I decided to use it with different colors of designer papers. For this look I first cut the base in a single color of card stock and then I cut each part of the designs and pasted them over the base as layers to give it a party look.

The base of my card is Garden Green and the second layer is Whisper White. I stamped a big sentiment from the Super Scrip set of Altenew Stamps using Kaleidacolor Bouquet Inks and I added some gold sequins on top. I added the Birthday Border using some dimensionals to create more impact.

You can find this amazing Sweet Petites Birthday Border  in our store or HERE, and don't forget to use my discount code martha15 to get 15% off in all your order.

Jingle Bells

Hello crafty friends,

Today's card features the Whispers Retro Jukebox die from the October 2015 release.  This die is truly a fun one to work with.

I started, by stamping a music sheet background onto white card stock and distressing it a bit.  I didn't want the background to stand out too much, so I stamped it with Old Paper Distress Ink and used the same ink to distress the paper once it was cut to size.  I used a green piece of pattern paper I had in my scrap pile as a mat.  Next, I die cut the jukebox twice, once from black card stock (bottom layer) and once from green card stock (top layer).  I got rid of the music bars from the green die cut and backed it with a piece of black card stock.  I added dimensional foam behind it and mounted it over the black die cut piece.  Then, I attached the green and black jukebox element to the card.

Next, I reached for one of my most used dies during the Holidays... the Complements Holiday 1 die and die cut the words "Jingle Bells" twice from green card stock.  Just so you know, whenever I die cut words from this or any other small word die, I always back the card stock with some kind of double sided tape.

I hope you liked today's card. I found the new Whispers Retro Jukebox die very easy to work with and I'm looking forward to creating other projects with it.  Thanks for stopping bye, leave me some feedback or links to your projects using some of these die.

Retro Shoes

Anne here and today I'm showcasing one of the newly released Retro dies that will take you back to the fifties, sixties, and seventies.  We are going to remember those disco days of the seventies (which has now re-circled and is now popular again).  I've used the Retro Shoe die and two font dies for today's card.

To start out, I die cut the show twice from white cardstock and heat embossed each one with Gold Coast embossing powder by Sparkle N Sprinkle.  Next I used some new-to-me water based dye powders called Nuance by Magenta on glossy paper.  I sprinkled the dry powder onto the glossy paper and then heavily spritzed it with water.  I also used a brush to blend the colors somewhat.  These are very vibrant, which you know I love.

Once the glossy paper was dry, I die cut the Retro Show twice more and used the negative pieces for the inserts into the heat embossed shoes.  My sentiments are cut from the scraps of same glossy paper.  The font dies used are the Cuppycake font for the top one and Middle School font for the sentiment on the bottom.  I added a few sequins and some psychedelic patterned paper to complete our step back in time.

Now it's time to Boogie on.  Be sure to visit the Die-Versions blog often to see what the rest of the team has created with these newly released Retro dies as well as other DV dies.

Beautiful Madonna

Hi Arty Souls!
Alicja here today with set of two cards with beautiful Madonna die. I felt in love with this die and I think  I'll create more cards like this:

For those square cards I started with white card stock for the base and added two square pieces of papers one smaller then previous one. Every square I altered with scizzors and used brown ink. Next I added a piece of paper which I tear of. I added a circle in contrasting paper under the die cuts.
 Whispers - Madonna Ornament
As finishing touch I added some chipboards and a few pearls.
I hope you like it.
See you next time :)

Disco Fever

Happy Monday!! Lisa here to share a project with you using a couple of dies from the new Retro Release. This is such a fun release, and if you use the code lisa15, you'll get 15% off your regular price Die-Versions order!!

I love the Whispers Retro Dancers. They totally reminded me of the old Saturday Night Fever movie posters, so I just had to dress the guy in the middle like Tony Manero (John Travolta) :) I used several different glitters from Sparkle N Sprinkle for all of the shimmer, and foam tape for dimension. The dancers are getting their groove on under the Whispers Retro Disco Ball. The Disco letters are also from the Retro Disco Ball die.

You can see all of the awesome dies from the Retro Release HERE. And we'd love to see your projects using Die-Versions dies on our Facebook page HERE.

Merry Christmas with Die-Versions Dies

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen here and today I am sharing a holiday card I made with Die-Versions dies and a gold striped cardstock. This is one of those cards that look much better IRL than it photographs. The tone on tone of the gold with a little red to highlight made for a pretty card I would be happy to share with anyone on my list. I started by die cutting all the words in the Holidays!
Complements set and the Poinsettia Flourish in the same gold cardstock as the background. I cut the Poinsettia Flourish apart and filled in the spaces between the holiday words. I also cut “Merry” from a red scrap. I attached all and added some red gems.

HOLIDAY CHEER CHAIN

Welcome dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you one of my Christmas Cards for this year. In this I am using the Holiday Cheer Chain - Whispers and ever since I used it for this card it has become one of my favorites.

I  love to create white and clean cards and with this die cut I have this possibility. I cut the chain two times in whisper white card stock to use it on the top of the card and let a side for a few moments. Then I stamped the sentiment with versamark and White Embossing Powder on a piece of Whisper White card stock. I applied three different colors of the distress ink and sprayed it with a few drops of water.

When the paper was dry, I pasted the two Holiday Cheer Chain on top and decorated with some rhinestones. The last part was pasting this layer to the base card that is Whisper White too. And voila, my christmas card was finished! But wait a minute, I forgot to tell you that I sprayed the whole card with Sheer Sparkle Shimmer Spritz to have a complete sparkly touch and let me tell you, it looks totally gorgeous!

Rock On

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Today I am sharing a card with you that I made with the new Whispers Retro Jukebox die from the newly released Retro Collection.

I love how you can really customize the Whispers Retro Jukebox to suit your liking. I cut this die out with four different papers and in-laid the pieces and I love the results!  Here is the card I created:

For this card I started out with white card stock for the base, then I added the bright pink paper after inking the edges with black ink, next I took the black and white gingham paper, inked the edges and added that on top of the pink paper.  Next I cut out the Sweet Spots Rock-On die  with some black sparkle paper and then I mounted it on some aqua paper and fussy cut around the edges and added it to the card.  Next I took my circle punches and punched out three black circles added the center color and then used a hole punch in the center of each circle to make it look like a 45 record, I added them to the card and then drew some white lines as an accent.  So what do you think?  Does this make you want to go to a Sock Hop??  I know I sure would like to put on my bobby socks and saddle shoes and go jitterbugging!!

Sing It! A Musical Shaker Card

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen here and today I am sharing a musical shaker card featuring the Musical Notes boy and Harmony notes dies from Die-Versions. My grandson plays violin so I knew I just had to get this sweet musical boy die, and the notes are perfect accents for any musical card. I cut the notes in white and also in navy blue for inside the shaker with the beads.

I started this card by cutting a circle hole just the right size for a Shake It Card Pouch by Impression Obsession. I love to make shaker cards and these plastic shapes from IO make them super easy. I embossed a blue card front with a musical embossing folder from Darice. I die cut the Musical Boy and the notes from white cardstock scraps and also cut some navy blue musical notes. I stamped the fun sentiment from Technique Junkies in blue ink on the white card base where it would show through the shaker circle. I dumped a bunch of beads and some musical notes in the Shake It plastic circle and finished putting the card together.

Here is a close-up of the shaker elements all shook up:

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my last Die- Versions post for October!
This time I made this Believe card  with just one new released die- but WHAT A DIE!
Just one single Angelic  die made the whole card  with a small portion of gold rub- ons and one puffy title sticker from PHP.

For this card I used this old (who knows how old) blue cardstock frame from my stash and added this gold cut from Angelic die inside the frame.
It looks fantastic over the solid black background.
Then I added a few gold rub- on stars and a sticker sentiment and this fine card was done.
This die is a TREASURE!
It can make the fancy card in seconds!

I hope I have inspired you to create something fun today!  Please be sure to check back to the DV Blog often for more great ideas on how to use your dies!  And please share with us what you make on the DV Facebook Page.
