Vintage Faux Leather Friends Card

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen here and today I am sharing a vintage style friends card featuring the Vintage Clock die and a faux leather technique. I found a video here on how to make faux leather book covers and have adapted the technique to make gorgeous card backgrounds. I suggest watching the video for the specifics, but basically you apply a water and glycerin mix (1 part glycerin to 4 parts water) to a thick piece of kraft cardstock (I used Stampin’ Up’s crumbcake.) Rub the glycerin mix in and repeat to both sides. Then crinkle the piece up, flatten and repeat. Flatten out and emboss the wet piece with an embossing folder (I used a Tim Holtz for Sizzix embossing folder). Heat set to dry and sponge on Vintage Photo Distress Ink (Ranger) to highlight the embossing and all over the faux leather piece. Then add some sponged Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink in the center. The piece will look and feel like real leather! I attached it to a cream card base and then glued on the Vintage Clock and Friends die cuts from Die-Versions.

Trick or Treat

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

It is time for the ghosts and goblins to be coming around and so I have a Halloween card to share with you today!

For this card I used the Whispers Witch Shoe die and I cut it out in several different colors of glitter paper and inlaid the pieces and added that to a piece of orange spider web paper that I found in my stash.  Next I colored the Adornit Wicked Paintable paper with Copic markers.  Then I took a piece of kraft paper and distressed the egdes with my Zutter distress it all and I added the orange paper with the Witch Shoe and the Trick or Treat picture.  I tied some Halloween bakers twine around the middle and tied on a spider web charm.  Next I attached the kraft card stock to the black glitter paper and then added that to the base of the card which is made with orange card stock.  I just love that Trick or Treat, Smell my feet, Give me something good to eat saying!  And I think it goes perfectly with the Whispers Witch Shoe!  This brings me back to when my daughters were young and they would say this at every door!!

Hope you all have a wonderfully fun Halloween!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Halloween

Anne here and I have a Halloween shaker card for you since Halloween is only a few days away.  I created this shaker card using the Witch Hat.  The shaker part has spiders from the DV Spider Web die and orange glitter.

The hat was colored with various embossing powders from Sparkle N Sprinkle: Black Magic for the spiders, Firefly for the yellow lightning bolts, Pumpkin on the hat band, Amethyst on the outline of the hat, and Glow in the Dark on the spider webs.

My (not so secret) message, a rubber stamp from Stampers Anonymous, was stamped onto Embossable Clear Acetate with VersaMark and then heat set with more Glow in the Dark embossing powder.

It's really hard for me to get a good picture of it glowing, but it really does. The photo on the left is blurry, but you can see how much it glows in the dark.  The photo below also shows the glow aspect, but it was taken in a dark room, but some light was shining in.

Be sure to check the Die-Versions blog often to see what the rest of the team has created for you.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Bethlehem

Happy Monday!! Lisa here to share a couple of Christmas projects with you using a die from the August release.

I love the Whispers Bethlehem die...it's one of my favorites. I thought it would look so pretty as a decoration, so I cut it out in black foam tape and wrapped it around a candle.

I also used it on a few cards. There are so many possibilities for this die...it's a definite must-have :) I also used the Sweet Wordlet Merry Christmas die on this card and...

...this one. I added sugar coating to the words and the star.

I used the Sweet Wordlet Peace on Earth for this one.

Stop back often for more inspiration from the design team. And we'd love to see your projects using Die-Versions dies on our Facebook page HERE.

Vintage card with heart locket

Hi, Alicja today with vintage birthday card for Olivia. I used the Vintage Heart Locket to make this card.
First I prepared a few layers of scrapbooking papers. Each layer is 0,5 cm smaller than the previous one. I distressed all papers with scissors. Then I used brown ink to make the papers look older.

Wee Petites Fall Card

Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a card that I made using the Fall - Wee Petite die Cuts. I mixed some of the leaves and created a complete ornament for my card.

The base and second layer of my card is Very Vanilla and I decided to ink another piece of the same card stock using Gathered Twigs, Mowed Lawn and Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink to my leaves from this. I also used metal sheets in bronze and orange colors to create a little shimmer and contrast with these colors.

I arranged all the leaves around of adhesive dot and decorated on the center with a wood bottom and linen thread bow. I stamped a sentiment on the right corner using early espresso classic ink, the same color of the big branches.

You can find this amazing set of petite die cuts in our store or HERE, and don´t forget to use my discount code martha15 to get 15% off in all your order.

See you soon and come back during the week that always we are sharing new projects with you!

Celbrate winter today!

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my second October post  in Die- Versions blog.
It is a general Celebration card made in greens and blacks  with a touch of silver colors with this fantastic O'Christmas Tree(s)  from August  Die- Versions release.
I used PHP Colorways papers and stickers and added this die cut tree on the corner and it was just a PERFECT fit to this card.

I added some glaze over the tree and some clear glitter and it was the only glue I used to arrange this die cut over my card.

I hope I have inspired you to create something fun today!  Please be sure to check back to the DV Blog often for more great ideas on how to use your dies!  And please share with us what you make on the DV Facebook Page.

Happy Birthday Elephant Trio

Welcome to the Universally Crafty Die-Versions Blog! Karen here and today I am sharing a birthday card I made for my son featuring the Elephant Die from Die-Versions. I die cut him twice out of black cardstock and once out of chipboard. I placed the chipboard elephant on a Ranger craft sheet on an electric griddle heated to 300 degrees and covered him with ultra-thick embossing powder. After that melted, I sprinkled several aged embossing powders from Stampendous on him and let that melt. I removed him from the heat and while still molten, stamped him with a barb wire background stamp from Technique Junkies. This technique is called Deep Impressions and is one of many Frantage techniques originated and taught by Fran Seiford of Stampendous.

I attached the three elephants on a card base I embossed with an Embossalicious embossing folder and sponged with brown distress ink.

Here's your invitation...

I used die cuts of the following dies: the Whisper Witch Hat die, the Whisper Skeleton die, the Sweet Petites Fall Festive die and the A Hint of Lime Font die.  All the die cuts were either colored black or cut from black card stock for a strong contrast against the yellow pattern paper.

Merry Christmas

Hello! Kara here today with a traditional color Merry Christmas card. It certainly is turning Fall like here in Western PA.  With that brings chilly weather and with chilly weather brings Christmas!

I decided to make a tradition color Christmas card using a few different dies.  I used the Delicate Tree from the Whispers collection.  Using green cardstock, I cut the tree and just knew it needed something else. I then took the actual die and traced it on the red cardstock and fussy cut.   The star is a perfect size for the topper and it comes from the Make a Wish set.  The final touches came with using stickles to 'glitterize' and make it sparkle.

The sentiment Merry Christmas is from the Sweet Wordlet collection Merry Christmas.

Thanks again for stopping by!  I hope this has inspired you to possibly start your Christmas card making.  Be sure to stop by the Die-versions blog and check out the amazing talent on the DT.

Happy Crafting!

Elegant Poinsettia Card

Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a Christmas card that I made using a beautiful and elegant die cut called Elegant Poinsettia. I used this to create a two color flower. Let me show you my card:

To make this Christmas card I used an early espresso card stock for the base, and a stamped very vanilla piece as second layer. Then I cut the Elegant Poinsettia in Mossy Meadow card stock once and Cherry Cobbler card stock twice

I cut the "branches" of the cherry cobbler Elegant Poinsettias with the scissors and layered these using double side foam tape to create dimension. Before I pasted the entire poinsettia to the card I tied linen thread to the second layer and added a stamped sentiment.

I hope my project inspired you to create something dimensional with your die cuts. You can see all the dies designs here and remember you can use my discount code martha15 to get15%off in Die-Versions Store, I am sure you will find all the great dies you could ever want.
See you soon!

Mistletoe

Anne here today and I have a Christmas card for you today using the DV Mistletoe die.  This is a pretty simple card and could easily be mass produced.  (I think using the Cracked Glass technique on the top layer would look really good too.  Next time :-).)

The background uses basic shapes and each layer is covered with soon-to-be released Chunky Embossing Powders from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The base is red, black, and white chunky powders, the center mat is covered with a red/white combo, and the top layer is a chunky red.

The Mistletoe is also covered with Sparkle embossing powder. This gives it a shimmery look, coordinating with the glossy top layer.  I added some gems for the berries and a ribbon to finish it off.

Be sure to check back at the DV Blog often to see what the rest of the team has created for you.

Happy Monday!! Lisa here to share a project with you using one of the fun Halloween dies from the August Release.

For this card, I used the Whispers Witch Hat die. I used three cuts of the hat and popped foam tape between each layer for dimension. The button on the crinkle ribbon is a Wee Petites Button die.

The hat was covered with a Wink of Stella Silver pen for shimmer.

Happy Fall

Hello Crafty Friends,

It's Fall, my favorite time of the year.  Today I have an Art Journal page that celebrates Fall and showcases some of Die-Versions' Fall theme dies.

On this art journal page I used the several die cuts of the Whisper Northern Maple die, which is one of my favorite leaf dies.  One die cut of the Whisper Pattern Pumpkin die and one die cut the Whisper Witch Hat die, which I'm currently obsessed about and haven't stop creating w/it since I got it :)

I started with my background... first, I Gesso'ed the two pages and once they dried I used shades of purple and blue Gelatos to create my Fall sky.  Next I printed two pumpkins I found on goggle, they were free kids coloring pages.  I printed them on water color paper and using Distress Inks in oranges, yellows, browns and green I painted them.  I stamped my cat on water color paper and used black Distress Ink to color him.  He reminds me of my Bear, who's very curious :)   Here's a photo of him

Next I added my die cuts... the Witch Hat, which I backed on green card stock went on the cat.  The Northern Maples I spend around the page.  I even die cut a few of the Northern Maples from velum, for a "ghostly" look :)  My final touch was to add the word art, but honestly, I'm not happy with it.  It's too bright and white.  I have to tone it down a bit or remove it and stamp the words directly onto my page.  What do you think?

Here are a few close ups of this project:

To create this project I used Die Version Whispers- Skeleton

Whispers - Skeleton
