Celebrating Memorial Day

Hello crafty friends,

Last weekend I celebrated Memorial Day by crafting.  I made these three cards with three of the new release dies.

on Card 1, the Tall Victorian House Whisper die stands proudly against a store purchased flag die cut by K&Company and some red stamped fireworks.  I really doesn't get much easier than this and yet I think this card is very striking.

on Card 2,  the Vintage Clock Whispers die takes the focus.  I surrounded the clock with three stamped patriotic images and the "thinking of you" sentiment from the Everyday Complements die.  And yes, that's a "clock" button in the center of the clock.

on Card 3, is not really a card, but it took me the longest to make of all three :)

I created a red, white and blue Steampunk Hat Whispers die, by die cutting it three times and paper piecing it.   I'm thinking this would make a great pin/brooch.

Thanks for stopping bye today.  Remember most any die can be used most any theme.  They can be the star of the show or just a supporting player.  Until next time

Vintage Sign

Happy Tuesday!! Lisa here to share a card with you today using the new Whispers Vintage Sign from the May Release.

I wanted these cards to look like the vintage signs were hanging in a flower garden. I used a combination of several Die-Versions dies.

For the backgrounds, I used my all-time favorite Whispers Bricks Background die. Beneath the cluster of flowers is a Whispers Ring of Hearts die.

The Vintage Sign was popped up with foam tape. The dragonfly is a Wee Petites Buggy die. It was cut twice, with the top layer covered with sugar coating. A Whispers Butterfly Garden die was added along the bottom. The butterflies were fussy-cut and covered with sugar coating.

Victorian Sewing Machine

Anne here and today I'm showcasing the new Vintage Sewing Machine die.  I decided to create a small box to hold some basic sewing supplies, basing the box on this tutorial (although I made mine slightly smaller).

To start off, I die cut the sewing machine from white cardstock and then "colored" it with various embossing powders from Sparkle N Sprinkle: Black Detail, Red Apple, Silver Detail, and my own concoction of Red Apple, Daffodil, and Tangy Tangerine mixed together for the thread.  The handle and the spool were colored with Copics and a scrap of fabric was added under the needle, just for fun.

To add dimension, I used one of my favorite techniques - die cutting it from fun foam and gluing the fun foam to the back of the die cut.  That way there's no fussing around those small openings, trying to make sure none of the dimensional foam shows through.  Quick and easy!!

I also wanted some sort of border for the front of the box, so I die cut the spool and thread part of the die several times and then cut off the parts I didn't want.  I also heat embossed it with my own mixture.

Lace was added to the front cover and along the sides and some (old) alpha chips by Doodlebug Design were added to the front as well.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team is creating with the latest Die-Versions Vintage release.

Vintage Boot

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Today I want to share with you a card I made with one of the new dies from the  May Release.  I used the Vintage Boot die along with the Whispers Heart of Hearts die.

For this A2 card I started with brown card stock for the base of the card.  Next I added a piece of patterned paper that I distressed with my Zutter DIA, and then I inked the edges with Brown Distress Ink.  Next I cut out the Heart of Hearts die using off white paper and brushed it with the same brown ink.  Next I cut out the Vintage Boot twice, once in gold paper and once in the maroon paper and pieced it together and then attached it to the the vanilla paper, distressed the edges with my Zutter DIA and then inked the edges with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and attached it to the card.  Don't you just love this Victorian Boot?  There are so many awesome dies in the May Steampunk/Victorian release!!

I hope I have inspired you to create something fun today!  Please be sure to check out the Die-Version Blog often for more creative ideas from the DV Design Team and share with us your creations on the DV Facebook page.

A Whispers Circles Background was used for the base. The Vintage Motorcycle was cut in silver foil so that it would shine :)

Happy Birthday is a Corner Concepts die. The star is a Wee Petites Super Stars die.

Rainy Days don't have to be blue

Hello crafty friends,

Before I start playing and creating with dies from our next two releases,  I have one more post featuring the Whispers - Rainy Day die.

First, a card fit for a princess...
I was thinking "somewhere over the rainbow" when making this card. I started w/a free clip art castle image I found on the internet, which I printed right on my pattern paper.

Tip... try printing on regular printer paper first.  When you get your image placed in the position you want, reprint it on your final paper or card base.

I die cut two Rainy Day clouds, painted the "rain drops" w/copic markers. Covered the clouds and the sun with glitter and added them to my card.  I added a few more glitter drops for even more sparkle.

Next I made a layout using a photo we took last summer at Universal Studios.

The Whispers - Rainy Day die was the perfect embellishment, because it rained the whole day there.  At one point the rain got so bad, that we took cover in a Bluff beer bar.

While making this layout I was thinking "liquid sunshine".  I don't know where the thought  "liquid sunshine" came from, but it was definitely on my mind and that's why the rain clouds are yellow.

Once again, I used two Rainy Day clouds, painted the "rain drops" yellow w/copic markers and covered them in glitter.  Behind them I added yellow stenciled rain drops.

All this layout needs to call it done, is the date and some journaling.

Thanks for stopping bye today.  Until next time

Key To My Heart

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Toady I want to share with you a card that I made with the new May release Vintage Keys die.

For this A2 card I started with off card stock for the base.  Next I took a piece of patterned paper and attached that to the base of the card with some white & gold bakers twine.  Then I cut out the Vintage Keys using kraft paper.  I colored some of the keys with Gold and Silver Gelatos and some with Antique Bronze Distress ink.  I put the keys on the bakers twine and tied that in a bow.  Next I cut out more of the kraft paper with the Whispers Lacey Dots die and attached that to the top of the card.  I took the last key and tied more bakers twine around that.  Next I stamped the sentiment with black ink onto more kraft paper and cut the fishtail ends and inked the edgtes with brown distress ink.  I attached the card to the sentiment and then both to the card.  Don't you just love all those old fashioned keys?  I sure do!  I wish they still made keys like these, they are so much prettier then ordinary keys today.

I hope I have inspired you to create something fun today!  Don't forget to stop back to the DV Blog often to see what creations the Design Team has come up with!  You can share your projects using your Die-Versions dies with us on DV Facebook page.

We will be announcing the winners of the Mother's Day Card Challenge on the DV Blog on May 15th!

Beautiful love card from Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new post made for Die Versions blog and using this most lovely Straw Basket die.
This time I die cut it from thin cork and added more cork on the background and it looks so fresh and pretty.
I added some paper flowers inside the basket and some PHP butterflies and a sentiment sticker on this card.
So easy to make a lovely Spring card with just one great die and some good embellishments.

See you soon again with more Die- Versions projects!

Felt Poinesttia

Anne here and today I wanted to share the answer to a question someone asked on the Die-Versions Facebook page  a couple weeks ago.  They asked if DV dies would cut through felt and I thought it would be a good idea to create a card using felt so everyone could see the results.

I used the Poinsettia 2 die from Die-Versions and die cut it out of both red and green felt.  My green felt was a bit thicker than the red, so I added a shim to my sandwich and that was perfect.  The red felt cut like it was soft butter, without needing a shim.  After stacking the layers up, I added some Liquid Pearls for the flower center.

The Bubble Background die was used to create the backdrop.  I took a sheet of gold mirror cardstock and randomly sponged some Copic Various alcohol reinker (B69) onto it with a felt blending pad.  Once the cardstock was die cut, the blue looks even more random.

The sentiment is the Merry Christmas Sweet Wordlet die cut out of double sided adhesive and covered with Goldenrod glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The red gem flourish behind the poinsettia is by Zva Creative.  A touch of Antique Linen Distress Ink was used to distinguish the edges of the card.

I hope this helps to show that the answer is a definite YES.  As you can see, the edges cut perfectly and there was no need to get out the scissors to cut stray threads.  If you have any more questions for the DV team, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Mother's Day Card Challenge

Hello Die-Versions Fans!!

Here's a quick card I made for a Mom that I know and I thought I would share it with you to get you thinking about making a card for our Mother's Day Card Challenge!!

For this card I used one of my dies from the May Die-Versions release, I cut out one of the Vintage Keys in white paper and then I used some Antique Brass on it to make it look like an old key.  I attached it to a tag that I made with some Graphic 45 paper and then I added the bow and attached it to the card.  I used more Graphic 45 paper on the card base and then I stamped Happy Mother's Day on it.  Lastly I cut out MOM using my "Oh Scarlet" font.  I also inked the edges with Blue Distress Ink.

I hope you like my card and that you will play along with us on the Die-Versions Design Team and make a card and enter it our Mother's Day Card Challenge!!  You could be one of 5 Lucky Winners to receive a $20.00 Gift Card to the Die-Versions on-line store!!

MEOW-rvelous Day

Good morning!

It's Patti J., and I'm here today with a cute project for Die-Versions.

Usually, when I case (copy and steal everything) a card by someone else, it ends up looking so entirely different that I forget why or what I cased in the beginning!

In full disclosure, however, I admit that I totally cased my card today, from THIS card by Jennifer McGuire. What a talented lady she is! Thanks Jennifer, for the inspiration.

I used Die-Versions DV-9014 Cat's Meow for this card.
I needed a birthday card for a friend, and thought this would bring her a smile.
I think she liked it!

It's very difficult to see, but the blue panel is stamped repeatedly with the ball of yarn
stamp in a light blue ink.  Just a wee bit of coloring, stamping, and die-cutting, and
voila!  One very sweet card!

I'm so glad that Die-Versions is making both stamps and dies!
Be sure to do some shopping for your Mother's Day gifts!

While you're here, we'd love for you tobecome a follower.
One of our DT members posts a project each day, so there is endless inspiration!

In case you missed it, we also have a Blog Hop and Card Challenge going on
