You rock around the clock with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here with my second February project and this time it's a scrapbooking page.
For a long time I try to  show that die cutting is not for card making only. Most of my crafty friends think the opposite way.  So here are the very same dies I used to make my card a few days ago and all off them used on this lovely scrapbooking baby page.
I made my combined title with 3 cuts of  Express edges- YOU ROCK  edge and then added Around the clock .
I used 3 different Musical dies on this page, most were  die cut several times.
Then  Whispers MusicYOU waterfall die was cut  from black and white cardstock and layered to one shaded layer. The Whispers Musical tree was highlighted with black enamel paint over the music notes.
The 3 times die cut title was heat embossed with red embossing powder and adhered on 3 corners to make this visual triangle.

And here are some of the close ups with the dies

I hope you liked my layout and you adore our new February release as much as I do.

Whispers "Sparkling Guitar"

Hello Die-Versions fans!

Emmy here with a new card to share!

"You Rock"

I created this card with the Whispers "Sparkling Guitar" die from Die-Versions' February 2014 release

I used a white 10 x 15 cm card base, which I altered with different masks and inks. Then I added strips of black and blue cardstock. The title I stamped with an alphabet stamp from Prima Marketing, fussy cut the letters and adhered it to my card with 3d foam tape.

Here are some close ups of my project:

I hope you enjoyed today's post!

Come back tomorrow for more inspirational projects from our design team!

Rock On!

Happy Tuesday!
It's my day to post on the Die-Versions blog, and I've chosen to spotlight one of the Sweet Spot dies from the newest release.  "Rock On" is the die that I've used, and it was fun to work with!  Cuts like butter, and you can easily just use the words without the circle if you prefer.

Supplies Used: Die-Versions "Rock On" Sweet Spots DVSS-066, Mo Manning Digital Image, Copic Markers, Cardstock from my stash, and American Crafts Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic Patterned Papers (a gift from my friend Marian!).

This die needed the perfect image, and when I saw this one at Mo Manning's digi site, I knew it would showcase the wonderful die perfectly!

I'm entering this card in the sketch challenge at Operation Write Home.  Here is the sketch:

Have a great week, and thanks for stopping by!

Hugs & smiles,

You rock card with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends!

Irit is here and  I  and  I welcome you all  to my first post  with February new released Musical dies.
I was born in a musical family: my Dad was a well known Israeli composer; my Mom was an opera singer; we all played piano for ages , but I never had anything Musical to use with my crafts, but maybe a piece of a chipboard. So those delicious musical dies are very precious to me and love those musical results a lot.
So here is my fancy musical card and it's totally general as it says YOU ROCK.

I used Express edges YOU ROCK edge twice: the dark red cut for the shade and  the white one on the top.
Then I made the same 2 cuts with Whispers Music Waterfall die and connect them with a dotted ribbon.
Everything else are just some lovely fancy embellishments to make this card shiny and beautiful.
So here are some close  ups to my card

And then I had a thought  about all those negatives leftt on my craft table and made this card

I adhered  this black negative  over the glue sheet and added pink glitter all over the negative spaces. The result is lovely and minute made too.

I hope you liked my card and you adore our new February release as much as I do.

I'm with the BAND

Well, my son is :)    Hello crafty friends.  I have a layout featuring three of the music release dies (Express Edges - Just A NoteWhispers - Happy HornWhispers - Happy Saxophone) for you today and I have to warn you, I'm going to be honest about how I approached this layout.

My son plays the tuba and as you can imagine there aren't too many (none that I know of) tuba dies out there, but  I wanted to create a layout of his winter concert.  Sometimes the perfect crafting product is not available, so we have to work with the products we have on hand.  I took my new music theme dies and an old tuba stamp I found at a garage sale and started thinking of how I could make them work for me.

This is the outcome...

I started by stamping tubas across the pattern paper with black ink in a diangular direction.  I inked the edges of my two 6x4 photos and taped them directly onto my pattern paper, right over some of the stamped tubas.  Now came the fun part, I die cut my two horn dies (Whispers - Happy Horn and Whispers - Happy Saxophone ) in black and placed them in between the tubas. Next, I added two types of black letter stickers for my tittle.

At this point, I realized something was off... the layout was top heavy.  The photos were too high on the page. I tried to move them, but the pattern paper started tearing and I didn't have another sheet.  I was stuck w/the placement.  I went back to my stash of supplies and reached for the Express Edges - Just A Note die, knowing it would work great as a bottom of the page element.  I die cut it in black and glued it at the bottom right corner of the layout.  YES! The layout was falling into place.  A few music notes from a sticker sheet and my layout was done.

Looking at the layout today, as I write this post... I will go back and try to swap the two die cut horns, so that the bigger horn is on the right where there's more open room and the smaller horn is on the left were there's less room.

Well, I hope you like my layout and my honest account of how it came to be.  Scrapbooking is fun, but sometimes we get stressed out or overwhelmed by the process.  I wanted to show that you are not alone... we all struggle to find the perfect sheet of pattern paper, the perfect color of ink, or the perfect tuba die :)

Here are close ups of each die:

Express Edges - Just A Note
Whispers - Happy Horn
Whispers - Happy Saxophone

Until next time

Altered Notebook

Anne here sharing today's project, where I've altered a composition notebook using some of the new release dies by Die-Versions.  If you haven't checked out the music themed release, you're definitely going to want to.

I had so much fun playing with embossing paste and embossing powder (you can see that Die-Versions card and info how I did it here) that I wanted to do it again.  This time, I used a plastic stencil from Crafters Workshop (Aboriginal) and Martha Stewart embossing powders (which has lots of glitter in them).  After it was completely dry, I spritzed the entire thing with Dylusions Ink Spray ( Squeezed Orange).  The embossing paste/embossing powder acted like a resist and I was able to remove all the ink from the raised areas.

The frame around the Elegant Piano is heat embossed with Ranger embossing powder (turquoise) and I added one of the notes from the Harmony Wee Petites to the frame.  The large Flourish Note was the perfect compliment to the piano.

I adhered this to music paper and added washi tape to the edges, some of which are colored with Distress Stains (Broken China).  The font used for the title is from last month's release and is the Gatsby font by Die-Versions.

Come back tomorrow to see more great ideas from the DV Dynamos.

Make Your Own Music

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Lori here again today and I can't wait to show you this beautiful card that I made using the new Whispers Elegant Piano die!

I started with white card stock for this A2 card and I inked the edges with red ink, next I cut out the music paper 5 1/4 inches by 4 inches and placed that on the card.  I cut the Whispers Elegant Piano die out twice, one with red metalic paper and one with black glitter paper, then I fussy cut them out and layered them together and placed them on the card.  Next I stamped the Make your own Music stamp on white cardstock and inked the edges with red ink and attached that to the card, and there it is!  A great card to send to a budding musician!!

I hope I have inspired you to get crafty today!  Please be sure to check out the Die-Versions blog everyday to see the other Design Team members projects!  And don't forget to share what you make with us on our Die-Versions facebook page.

Party Time!!

Happy Friday, everyone!! Lisa here to share a project with you using one of the dies from the newest Die-Versions release, The Musical, as well as some dies from earlier releases.

The Celebrate Express Banner is from the January 2014 release, as is the  Whispers Loopy Lace die used along the top and bottom edges. The Celebrate Banner was cut twice, once in black for a shadow. The Sweet Petite Party Crowd die was added along the bottom.

I used the new Party Time Sweet Spot die to decorate the gift bag, as well as to make a party button. The Angel Wings Scalloped Circle Sweet Spot die was used behind the Party Time die. They were then covered with Glossy Accents and dried overnight. I added pins behind the buttons. The one on the bag is attached with Velcro and then it can be removed and worn as a button.

Check out all of the new February release HERE. You can watch videos showcasing many of the new dies on our YouTube Channel HERE. And we would love to see your Die-Versions projects on our Facebook page HERE.

You Rock!!

Hello Die-Versions Fans!!

Lori here today and I would like to show you a card that I made that with some of the new Musical Release dies!!  I am in love with them all!!  If you have anyone in your family that plays an instrument, then these dies are a must have for you!!

For this 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 card I started with black cardstock for the base of the card.  I then cut out the Express Edge You Rock die in a metalic red paper and attached that to the top of the card.  Next I cut out the Bo-Bunny music paper and glued that on the card.  Next I took some black glitter paper and cut out the Flourish Note Whispers die and added that to the card and then I took some more of the metalic red paper and cut out the Whispers Drum Set die and added that to the card.  A quick and easy card that can be used for Valentine's Day with the heart music note paper or just to let someone know you think they Rock!!

Musical Kids

Anne here with a new project using some of the Die-Versions new releases.  As you know, this month is all about music and I've incorporated four of the new dies into this card, plus a few handmade flowers that remind me of carnations.  The new releases are the Music StandMusical BoyMusical Girl, and Harmony Wee Petites (music notes).

I started out by creating my background using a technique which combines embossing powder and embossing paste.  (You can see a video of it here by Jennifer McGuire.)  I placed the Dreamweaver metal stencil down onto white cardstock and applied the embossing paste.  After carefully removing the stencil, I covered it with Lagoon Blue embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle and let it completely dry.

Once it was dry (I waited a couple hours), I heat set the embossing powder.  This gave it a really nice, but subtle, shimmer.  I didn't like the white background, so I spritzed the entire thing with Dylusions Ink Spray (Dirty Martini).  The raised embossing paste/embossing powder design acted like a resist and I was able to take a paper towel and remove all the ink from that portion, leaving a nice variegated background.

I wanted the boy and girl in silhouette and decided they were playing a duet together.  The little girl is pop dotted beside the boy to give the illusion she's standing right beside him, reading the sheet music from the music stand.

After adhering everything together, I felt it needed a little something more.  I remembered seeing these flowers several years ago and decided to make a few.  It's so easy too.... just die cut or punch a bunch of scalloped circles, all the same size.  Then lightly spritz them with water or a spritz (I added Smooch Spritz Vanilla Shimmer) to soften the fibers of the paper.  This allows you to crumple them up in a ball easier.  Once they are dry, punch a hole in the center and begin threading the layers through a brad.  Unfurl the layers as you go.  You can add as many or as few layers as you want to determine the size of the flower.  As I mentioned, these remind me of the carnations I taught people how to make out of gum paste or fondant for cakes.

You're definitely going to want to check out this new release as well as what the rest of the DV Dynamos have come up with.  So be sure to visit the DV blog ever week day for lots of inspiration.   I think you're going to be pretty impressed.

Girly card with the Flourish Note die

Hello Die-Versions fans!

Emmy here with a brand new card to share.

To create my card I used pink and brown cardstock, pattern paper and a few stamps.

To create the glittery die cut I adhered a piece of white cardstock to an adhesive sheet. Then I die cut the note using Die-Versions'  "Flourish Note" die and a die cut machine. When it was ready, I removed the protective layer and covered the die cut with glitter.

I hope you enjoyed today's post!

The Musical...

Good morning!  Patti J. here with you today...
If you are like me, you like music.  ALL music!  On any given day, I have music playing while I work.  My taste goes from hymns and gospel, to Aerosmith, and everything in between!  So, when the February new release at the Die-Versions store was 'The Musical', I couldn't wait to get my happy mail!  Here's the first card that I created with one of my new dies:

This card uses the Die-Versions Whispers "Rosy Music" #DVW-327.  I had seen 'piano' cards in the past, and thought it would be a great way to showcase this beautiful die.

To make this card, I just cut strips of white and black cardstock.  I outlined the white strips with a gray Copic marker to give them some depth (too much, actually!), and just adhered them to my card base. Added the black strips and a ribbon (left over from our daughter and son-in-laws reception last year) and voila!  What fun.  Since I'm a Chemo Angel/Senior Angel, I use a LOT of Thinking of You cards, so the sentiment was not difficult to decide on.

This next card was fun, too!  So often, we get these border dies, and use them only at the very top of a page. I recalled this fun row of spring flowers and sentiment from DoodlePantry.com, and thought that this die (Die-Versions DVW-335 "Music Waterfall") would be a perfect division between the image and the sentiment.

The flowers are pre-colored - the only addition is a touch of glossy accents on the orange flowers. I think you can see the shine if you enlarge the photo.
I think it will certainly brighten someones day, and I'm sure we are all ready to sing those songs of spring!

I hope you'll follow us here on the blog for more beautiful samples using the February release dies!
We'd also love it if you would 'like' us on Facebook!

Party Time!!

Happy Friday, everyone!! Lisa here to share a project with you using dies from the new February "The Musical" release!! The new dies are so fabulous...must-haves!! Click HERE to see all of the dies from this release and to order yours today!! They are in stock and ready to ship :)

For my step card, I used three of the newest dies to create this musical scene. The clouds were created with a hand-cut cloud template and Stormy Sky Distress Ink.

I just love the Sweet Spots Marching Band die. I cut it several times, in black, then white, metallic gold, then cream and red, layering the colors to give the marching band their outfits and shiny instruments.

For the Whispers Musical Tree, I also cut it several times, in black for a shadow, brown and then metallic gold. I cut out the music notes in the gold paper and layered them on top.

I used the new Sweet Spots Party Time die as both the sentiment and as the sun. The Sweet Spots Angel Wings Scalloped Circles was layered behind.

Bear Hugs

Hello Die-Versions Fans,

Lori here today and I want to share with you a Valentine's Day card that I made using the new Whispers Block Background die and the Whispers "Crochet Lace" border die!!  I am really loving both the new Background dies and the Lace border dies!!  I think I am going to have to get everyone of them!!

For this 5 x 7 inch card I used the Art Impressions Bear Hug stamp, because doesn't everybody want a big bear hug on Valentine's Day?  I know I do!!  I cut out the Block background in a pink glitter paper and the lace border in silver glitter paper.  I colored in the bear with copic markers.  Now what you can't tell from the pictrure is that there is an action wobble behind the bear so he wiggles like he is giving you a big old bear hug.  I hope a special someone will like this card!!

Please share your creations with us on our Facebook Page we love to see what ideas everyone comes up with!!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check back tomorrow for our new February Die-Versions Release!!  I can't wait!!

Love and Happiness...Just Because!

Hello!
Today, I'm happy to be posting my creations here on the Die-Versions blog!
I had a great time, working with two of the Die-Versions dies.  Have I mentioned
that they cut like butter?  Wow - such a joy to cut with!

The card above was made using the Die-Versions DVW-322 "Crochet Lace" Die.  It was cut twice, and adhered on top and bottom of a black panel.  A flourish border stamp was added to the top and bottom, and a sentiment to the center of the panel.  The panel was then attached to a solid white card base.  Black and white is a favorite color combo of mine - always looks elegant!

The second card uses both the Die-Versions DVW-322 "Crochet Lace" Die, and the Die-Versions DVW  "Chrysanthemum" Whispers Die.  The Chrysanthemum was cut from both white and Kraft.  The Kraft was turned to show from behind the white piece.  A sentiment and a bit of bling finished this card off nicely!

I hope that you'll head over to the Die-Versions store, and do some shopping!
We'd also be happy for you to follow us here at the Die-Versions Blog,
and 'Like' our Facebook page!

See you again on the 10th with my next project - I'll be showcasing some of the new release dies!

Thanks for stopping by,

Patti J.
