Sweet Frames

Hello crafty friends,

It’s my turn again and since it’s my last post with dies from the January 2014 release, I have three projects for you today.  Yes, three projects :)

For this release I was tasked with using the “Sweet Frames – Smile, the “Express Banners – Birthday”, the “Express Banners – Thank You” and the “Font - A Hint Of Mint” dies.  Since my last post focused on a layout featuring the “Sweet Frames – Smile”, I felt this post had to focus on all the others.

My first project today is this layout:

My son turned 13 last September; I wanted to make a quick and easy layout focusing on the 13 in the photos.   The “Express Banners – Birthday” die was the perfect embellishment, even in multiples (I used three), because of its light and airy feeling.  On the layout, I used washi tape and my go to "Corner Concepts - Happy Birthday" die.  I also created a custom die cut "PETER" by using individual letters from the "Corner Concepts - Happy Birthday"  and the "Corner Concepts - I Love You" dies.

My second project is this card:

For this card, I created a frame and attached three “Express Banners – Thank You” dies to it with clear glue.   To make sure my banner would fit the frame’s opening, I first measured the banner's width and then cut the center of the frame a little smaller.   I used foam squares to lift the frame and once the glue on the banners had dried, I attached the element to my card front.   Here's a close up side view:

This was a very quick and easy card to make.  I’m going to make a few more of them in different colors to have on hand.

My third and final project today is this card:

On this card I used the “Express Banners – Thank You” and the “Font - A Hint Of Mint dies.   I put a different spin on how I used the font die, because I used the negative space.  I took three pieces of scrap card stock and cut the font die three times.  I kept the little letters to scatter around the card once all my elements were attached.   This time I attached my  “Express Banners – Thank You” with two small clothespins and I used two die cuts (white and blue)  gluing them just slightly off center, so that I would get a shallow affect.   I admit that it was a total after thought to glued the positive letters from the “Font - A Hint Of Mint die around the edges of the card.  Don't you think this would make a great Thank You card for a Teacher?

Well, I've taken up enough of your time today.  Sorry for the long post, but I just had to show you all the projects I made with the goodies I got for the January release.   I’ll leave you with this tip.  The Express Banners have a slight curve to them, but I found that you can manipulate the degree of the curve a little.

I can’t wait to get my goodies for the next release.  Until next time

    1. Thanks Lisa. I'm really loving working with the new Express Banners.

  2. Your LO is awesome love the total look very creative of you. Your cards are amazing I'm blown away how you used the negative of the dies would've never thought of doing this and your words strung as banners is so clever. You are most certainly one creative and very talented gal.

    1. Thanks Joan. Using the negative of letter dies is an old trick of mine. I love the affect on school layouts. PS... you can get a different, but still very cool affect w/cookie cut die letters arranged randomly.
